Salvation, nirvana, enlightenment or moksha. All of these lead to one another. They sometimes can be referred to as the same thing. Getting peace out of breaking through the cycle of life and death through detachment could be referred to as Nirvana. It was the goal of a human who was acknowledged as a God. And he gave the eight noble paths. Following these paths of balance would lead to Nirvana.
Leaving family life, leaving all the worldly desires to reach Nirvana was not desirable to all. So people searched alternatives.
They say if a person does work without attachment he can obtain moksha even at home. The balance of not excessively becoming happy when achieving something and not becoming unhappy when losing something. Following this brings peace. These words were created more than two thousand years ago before Demark was born.
Demark was quite interested in other faiths as his own. Because the interest he found it easy to scroll through pages and take in different lifestyles due to different paradigms.
A kind of affinity due to these reasons led Demark to relook at his own faith and observe.
Many people unlike Demark would find it terribly threatening to reexamine one's own paradigms and try to see if they were close enough to reality or not. But Demark would as he had in those days in the isolated river and peaceful solitude learned to steer the wheel into the direction in which he had decided to move. He could react calmly to situations that were difficult to maintain calm.
Sometimes he would be flooded with emotions of pain. A lack of meaning would make his daily life painful. But slowly in the future when he started to grow up, his response to the situation would be his added meaning to his life.
The way he handled each situation with the vision of the end clearly in mind. It was something he learned from a book and he applied it. He could see what was there and what was futile, how to make most of his moments.
The beauty of seeing that end and acting and measuring every choice and desire based on that end.
But what he did was to strengthen his vision and his resolve and determined to solve and fulfill his vision. He would not keep overly ambitious goals. He knew his limits by studying and applying the knowledge.
The beauty of knowing was something that Demark really enjoyed specially if it was related to logic and emotions. He practiced and in the future practiced even more. In the near future practiced controlling his emotions by visualisation and imagining the kind of end he wanted to achieve and worked hard to move in the direction to achieve it. Working day and night to serve and contribute the people that mattered the most to him. Whether in was contributing to a large group of people or a couple or people who he deemed extremely important.
The works of his heart would flow , a kind of romanticism. But there was the element of logic, of following principles. These principles would bring long term results.
And in search of what those principles are, Demark scrolled through the books trying to internalise the habits associated with the perspectives given by the books.
Demark felt heavy after internalising the words. He knew if he picked up one end of the stick he would pick up the other. But what was the connected things he wondered. What was the different truths that would bring long term results?
He decided to extend his stay in Lyson inorder to search for those other truths.
For the next month he tried to visit the library everyday. And he hadn't had to see the priest change into the dark levitating form that he expected to see at least once after visiting for so long. He did however see ceremonies with candle lights and people crowded there sometimes.
He also found out that the number of people at the base was always more than what was there at the top floor. He didn't see many besides himself at the top floor.
Also the beautiful fragrance surrounding the top floor really made reading at the top a pleasant experience. He continued to read with joy and concentration.
The things he learnt was fascinating to him and he was fitting the pieces of the theoretical puzzle. In the night he would imagine and revise what he was studying in his head.
There were also topics of western medicine and healing. It would fulfill the curiosity Demark had as a child. Pictures of dissection of human beings. Placement of muscles and attachment to the tubercles and shapes of bones that made the musculoskeletal system function better. Then the muscles require energy, oxygen and stimulus to function. The energy and oxygen would be supplied my vessels called arteries and nerves help in responding to the stimulus.
He learned a lot of discoveries had been made since he had been born and also in the past. The constant search of people for what works in nature and what doesn't. The way things really are, not our assumption, the maps we have in our heads and how accurately they describe the territory.
He started using his imagination, started giving a lecture in a huge hall of people who were curious to know what kind of thoughts he had. Him, honestly explaining his experiences and progressions. And spreading the knowledge that he learnt during the experiences.
What he learnt during his work in the factory. The shifts and the breaks in-between. The sound of the industry, the factory. The silver machines. It was a car creating factory. Each section had its own unique job, a particular type of work. Demark learnt that he had developed proficiency. Therefore the task seemed easier.
That which we do consistently, the work becomes easier, not because the nature of the task has changed but our ability to do so has increased. It was a famous quote by Emerson. And Demark felt it was valid in his case. So were many of his other reflections
