Love in Unexpected Places

Chapter 14

Evelin enjoyed seeing her classmates in homeroom and chatting about her break. She didn't mention Adrian. Though a few people had questions about the guy she had played dodge ball with and slept next to at the lock in. She answered the questions with quick simple answers. Her classmates didn't pry.

            Adrian awoke with to the incessant beeping of his alarm. He didn't want to get up and go to school the only good thing was that he would get to see Evelin, he got ready for school dressing quickly. Alex and Lexus were already down stairs when he got there. His mom had made him breakfast, it was delicious. Pancakes and French vanilla coffee.

                        Adrian finished his breakfast and got ready to leave with Lexus and Alex. They were in the garage and fighting about which car to take.

"I want to take my Ferrari."

"Alex we are going to take one of the normal cars. Four hundred thousand dollar Ferrari's are not normal I would like to not stick out. If you drive that people first impression will be 'There's the rich kids', can we please just take my infinity or Adrian's land rover they'll stick out less. Plus they'll handle better in the snow." Alex consider it, mostly because it was Lexus he was fighting with. If it had been Adrian Alex would have fought to the death with him. Even if it was over something as simple as which car to take.

In the end the ended up taking Adrian's range rover. He maneuvered the car through the mountains and into town. They arrived to find the parking lot almost full. Adrian, Alex, and Lexus all went to homeroom together.

The school was stereotypical, a big brick building with white walls. It was the biggest building in town. The bell rang a shrill note to tell students to get to class. The administrators stoked the halls looking for strangling students. the classes were small, but class selection was limited. Adrian had was aggravated that it didn’t offer Chinese or Russian, his too favorite foreign languages and was instead taking Spanish 2.

The hall only had a few strangling students, as they walked to homeroom. Adrian had hoped to see Evelin before school started, but she was nowhere to be seen. She was Already in her homeroom. Their home room had 20 odd students in it. They were the last to arrive and had to take seats in the front. Their elderly teacher was tired and needed a few more cups of Coffee to be functional.

Then the teacher started to take attendance and paper work. He had an annoying Mellow tone voice and introduced himself as Mr. Johnson. He started with the F’s and begun to call student names.

"Adrian Grantwise." He called and Adrian went to pick up his schedule and required paperwork.

"Alexandra Grantwise." The teacher called next. Lexus did the same as Adrian. Adrian laughed, a few students looked at him like he was crazy. Alex glared at his brother, they had skipped Alex again.

 The teacher called the next student, "Alba Greenwater."

Alba looked up from her book when she heard the name Adrian that was the guy Evelin had spook about. He was taller boy with blond hair.   Alba was trying to figure out why Evelin liked him, and why Lucilia seemed abrasive about it.  He wasn’t overly attractive, handsome, fit, or skinny. She didn't realize she was staring at him until he spoke.

"Hi, I'm Adrian." Adrian said to the girl who was starring at him awkwardly at him.

"Sorry, I’m a friend of Evelin’s, I’m Alba.”

“Hi Alba, I’m Adrian. What did Evelin say?” Adrian asked politely but getting straight to the point. He had met Lucilia but not  Alba.

There conversation was disrupted by Alex. The teacher asked if there was anyone else that he hadn’t called. When Alex said he was Alexander Grantwise, the teacher decided he most be the new class clown and wanted his ‘real name’ and of course, Alex said he was Alexander Grantwise. This pissed the teacher off.

 “That’s really his name,” Adrian said.

The teacher glared at both brothers and called administration. There was murmuring as the teacher got confirmed that Alex wasn't lying and grudgingly handed Alex his schedule.

The the bell rung and the siblings separated Alex went to Government, Lexus to Anatomy, and Adrian to  Sociology.
