Love in Unexpected Places

Chapter 25

Evelin gave her mom a strange look. Dominique realized Evelin most have not known. “Kelly Landry, was driving the jeep,” she told Evelin gently trying not to rush into telling Evelin.              Evelin knew Kelly, she had graduated when Evelin was a freshman. Kelly still lived at home and went to community college. “Evelin Kelly didn't walk away from the accident. She was killed after her jeep flipped. The police think alcohol played a large part in the accident.”

            Evelin was shaken, Kelly had been won of Lucilia's team mates on the basketball team and played soccer. Tears feel from Evelin's eyes. She was extremely lucky they hadn't feel off the cliff.

            Dominique murmured sweet words to her shaken daughter. Just grateful to have her alive and not the headline of tomorrows paper like Kelly would be.

            Adrian weeped quietly for a while with Alex and Lexus both holding his hands. Thomas got to the hospital with Audrey, who had meet him in Seattle. She came up from Portland, postponing her tour for two days in order to check in youngest son. She and Thomas glided into the hospital and into Adrian's room he was asleep, with stains of tears on his checks. Alex and Lexus lay in the chairs at the corner of the room. More out of boredom them actually being tired since it was in the middle of the afternoon, they had sat with Adrian until he cried himself to sleep. 

            Alex and Lexus didn't understand his crying, but he was there brother so the comforted him in the only way they could.

            Thomas and Audrey talked to Adrian's doctor that said he would be fine to go home, but needed to stay off his injured leg. Also if his muscle spasm's were to come back he would need to come back.

            Evelin was getting released around the same time told that she was safe to go home and sleep. She had stopped her tears and was calm for a period of time. Evelin's was irritated that she wasn't allowed to actually go home to her cabin but instead would spend  the night in own of the inn's generic hotel room's.

            Adrian was happy to see his mom. Happy to know that he was important then her book tour. He still didn't feel good and was ready for more drugs.

            “How is Evelin?” Adrian asked, noticing that none had mentioned her. She had seemed less injured than him after the accident. Hopefully Just a few bruises and maybe a cut or two.

            Alex, was surprised by Adrian's question and felt bad that he hadn't gone to check on the girl. But Adrian said she had heard what he'd said at the party while severely drunk. “I don't know. Would you like Lexus and I to go find out?”

            “Wow, your nice today.” Adrian said jokingly, “If you could, that would be amazing.” He said topping it with a huge smile.

            Alex nodded in recognition and left Adrian it the room.

            Alex and Lexus opened the door of Evelin's hospital room. She was starring mindlessly at the television and looked up at the sound of the opening door. Adrian's older siblings walked into her room. She thought that aside from the gender difference they could be identical. Added to the fact that the majority of the time they seemed to always be together; a unite package.

            “How do you feel?” asked Lexus as she moved closer looking for injuries.

            “I'm fine. How's Adrian?” Evelin said not changing the topic so she wouldn't have to talk about herself. But because she was worried about him.

            “You don't look so fine you have a cast in your wrist.” Lexus chastised, “But Adrian is gonna survive, your both lucky. He broke his left arm and sprained his ankle but it'll heal. What are the full extent of your injuries?”

            “My right arm and I have a concussion.”

            “How did you get a concussion?” Lexus asked curios.

            “I hit my head against the window.”

            “You know Adrian really cares about you.” Alex said unexpectedly, “He's worrying, worried he might have gotten you hurt. Worried that he could of killed you, Worried that you could have died like the girl in the other car.” Alex said breaking his quiet. Evelin started crying again she could have died. There accident had caused the death of someone she went to school with.'

            “Did you know her?”

            “Yes I went to school with Kelly.” Evelin said wiping the tears unsuccessfully because they kept flowing from her brown eyes.

            Lexus walked beside Evelin and hugged her. A simple comforting gesture. “We'll go tell Adrian that your okay.”
