Adrian walked to class and met his sociology teacher Ms. Douglas, she had long red hair that she wore in a bun around a pencil. She barely looked at Adrian when Adrian went to talk to her she just signed his slip of paper.
“Welcome to Willowcreek Adrian, take a seat where ever you'd like.” Then she went back to looking through her disorganized desk. Adrian turned to find a seat at one of the desk and saw Evelin.
"Hey," Adrian said as he w walked up behind her.
Evelin who had been intently reading a book nearly jumped out of her skin. "Oh, Adrian," Evelin said looking up at him.
"How was the rest of your weekend?"
"Boring I read Michelle's books."
"It makes it different after you meet the author?"
"Yeah." Hows your first day going?"
"Great. Alex got into a fight with or home room teacher."
"Why?"
"The teacher didn't believe he was really Alexander Grantwise. Thought it was a joke almost kicked Alex out." Adrian said serious about the events but laughing from Alex getting yelled at for telling the truth.
"Oh, and I met Alba."
"Alba's great, I'm so happy she's back." Evelin said smiling thinking about her best friend, "Her family runs the outdoor store in town."
"Did you have fun at the party?" Adrian asked randomly.
"yes," Evelin said but failed to sound sincere.
"Don't lie. There's no point in it," Adrian said, it came out harsher then he meant it to.
"I herd about your teacher."
"Oh," Adrian said, hoping Evelin had been able to avoid that fact. But he knew it had been discussed by the guests.
Adrian tried to to hold her hand, Evelin pulled back. Partially out of disgust, he had touched his teacher like that? How many other girls had he?
Adrian was hurt by the slight pull back of her hand. He had meant it to be a comforting gesture.
Evelin turned back to her book and didn't give Adrian another look. She hadn't been happy with his answer. Adrian just watched her for a while. The way her brown hair sat over her solider the gentle movement of her hand as she flipped the books page. "Evelin," Adrian said. Evelin looked up. "I'm sorry, I should have told you."
Evelin meet his eyes, "Why?"
"Because, I was failing and wanted to spend my winter break in Hawaii, instead being grounded."
"That worked well." Evelin sniped.
"I never said it was smart."
"How did you get caught?" Evelin was thinking of him being walked in on as he screwed his teacher.
"Computers check for hackers, and it found that I got 200 points extra credit. It sent up a red flag. They talked to my teacher and she confessed. I got expelled. My parents found out, and they decided that having the family spread apart was a bad Idea."
"So they moved to the smallest town in Washington?"
"No, they had bought land and built a house up here. It was finished over the summer we were going to be here over Christmas anyways, but they decided we would stay here until we go to to university."
Evelin looked at Adrian listening to Adrian tell the story of how he screwed up his life. Trying to gauge why he regretted it. Was it the selfish regret that he couldn't be in Las Angles. Or because he screwed up his siblings senior year and some teachers career. Not that any teacher that would do that should be a teacher to begin with.
Adrian watched Evelin Absorb everything he had told her.
“Your an Idiot.” Evelin said flatly
“Yep, thats what they tell me. Thats become Alex's favorite favorite phrase.” Adrian said with a chuckle. Evelin didn't really get how that was funny. The One time she had meet Alex he hadn't been exactly friendly so him being mean to his younger brother didn't give Evelin amusement.
“Whats his deal?”
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, he seemed pissed that I was a the party and then he got so drunk he could barely walk."
"His girlfriend dumbed him and he doesn't think much of my girlfriends."
"I got that when he referred to me as your whore and I'm not your girlfriend. I am your friend who happens to be a girl."
"I know that." Adrian said, but hoped that wouldn't always be the case. "It was a phrase. Sort of," Adrian said stumbling slightly over his words. "When did he call you a whore?"
"At the party when you were fighting with him."
"Thats why Lexus drove you home?"
"you looking over your head, so i gave you one less chore to do."
"Do things with you aren't Chores," Adrian said with complete seriousness.
The bell rang, Evelin slid from her chair carried her books and went to the following class.
