Love in Unexpected Places

Chapter Twenty Three

Alex and Lexus arrived to an empty house again. Thomas wouldn't be home for another couple hours.

            "Where do you figure Adrian is?" Lexus asked worried that her brother might be. He could have gotten lost or had a car accident.

            "Good only knows. Probably somewhere more interesting then home."

            "Were alone," Lexus said seductively.

            Alex didn't need to be told twice, he kissed Lexus with fiery passion. But the reality of what he was doing set in. "Lexus, we can't. Your my sister." Alex said pulling away and stepping back a few steps.

            Lexus tried to argue, but Alex left the room. He didn't want to be tempted by his sister.

            The house felt very empty to Lexus with out Alex or Adrian in the same room. She was hurt that Alex ran away. He was doing the right thing and she should respect that.

            Lexus went into her own room, shut the door and went to sleep, because she didn't know what else to do.

            Alex knew walking away from his sister was the right thing but that was honestly the last thing that he really wanted. He sat and did his homework and read a book. Looking froward to when his dad or brother got home so he wouldn't have to be alone with Lexus any more.

            She was hurt that Alex ran away. He was doing the right thing and she should respect that.

            Lexus went into her own room, shut the door and went to sleep, because she didn't know what else to do.

Adrian and Evelin did there homework together and then Adrian left. It was already dark and Evelin went to making dinner and feeding her whinny over spoiled cat. Evelin ate dinner alone at her kitchen table and then went to bed.

            Thomas got home before Adrian to find the house very quiet he wondered if anyone was home. But upon checking he found both Lexus and Alex peacefully asleep in there bed rooms.

            Adrian wasn't home yet but it was only seven o clock so he decided not to worry and made dinner. Cooking was not a high point of Thomas's so he stayed to simple dishes. Audrey was the cook, she was the one that kept everything together. It terrified Thomas to be their in the woods without her with the three teenagers.

            Adrian walked in the door just as dinner got finished.

            "What's for dinner, Dad?" Adrian asked happily as he slide into the kitchen.

            "Where have you been? It's dark and you don't know your way around here." Thomas said trying to sound protective and worried but it just came out as angry yelling.

            "I was at Evelin's." Adrian said in much less cocky voice.

            "You better not get her pregnant." Thomas yelled.

            Adrian was irritated that everyone seemed to assume that he was sleeping with Evelin. They couldn't just be friends.

            "I'm not going to get her pregnant." Adrian said avoiding going into the details of his sex life.

            Alex had woken up and heard his brother and dad fighting as he came down the stairs.

            "Dad no need to worry, he not sleeping with her. "

            Thomas hadn't exactly meant to learn about Adrian's sex life or lack of one. He turned back and finished making dinner.

            Adrian walked over to his brother, and hit him on the arm. "Thanks Alex you made that so much more awkward."

            "Your welcome! You want to go get Lexus for dinner?"

            "Is that to much effort for you?” Adrian asked skeptical

            "Yep." Alex said like an idiot.

Adrian rolled his eyes and laughed, running stairs climbing them two at a time and open Lexus's door and shock her shoulder.

"Lexus wake up!"

"Alex," Lexus said but it was more of a moan. She was still caught up in her dream,

"No, It's Adrian. Dad made dinner." Lexus realized that she was know longer dreaming and got of bed.

"Is dad's food edible?" Which a fair question Thomas had a tendency to burn thing, but to much salt in deserts, or get things like baking soda and baking powder mixed up.

"Smells like it. It spaghetti thats pretty hard to screw up."

Lexus laughed, "He could forget to cook the pasta or the meat."

"Its meat free and I saw the pasta boiling."

"Good it should be edible. Do get amusement that dad runs one of the biggest hotel chains in the country without a sweat but he can rarely cook dinner to save his life?"

"No, thats why he marred mom."

"I think he married mom because he loved her." Lexus said seriously.

"That and she can cook." Adrian added with a laugh.

Lexus shook her head and her and he brother went down stairs to eat dinner.

Dinner turned out not to be to horrible. No where near there mothers cooking but it was food none the less. After dinner Adrian's family basically dissipated into separate bed rooms.
