The car kept moving in the dark, zipping down the county highway as it had been before.
Why was it still going? Crazy Diamond stopped it, and Josuke was there. Why was the dream still continuing? These were all the thoughts racing through Shizuka's fragile mind. Thick beads of sweat poured down her forehead, but she dare not show any more signs of her fear in front of her father, the man she promised she would never cry in front of. Even if it wasn't really him, the feelings were still the same. But it was not hard to see that these efforts were not enough. Joseph, still an extraordinarily aware man despite his elderly state, seemed to notice some of his daughter's anxiety.
"Still feeling down, huh? Or you're scared of driving in the dark?" Joseph asked flippantly.
Shizuka turned her head to her father, sitting with her in the back of the car. She stared at his bearded face, either unsure of what to say or too terrified to say something.
"Just kidding! You know what, now's the perfect time to put on a good tune. Driver, put on my playlist!"
"Yes, Mr. Joestar." the young driver said. His fingers pressed a few buttons on the center console while keeping one hand on the steering wheel. Almost immediately after, a pop song from the late 80s began to play.
Joseph began to hum along to the beat.
"I usually detest listening to Japanese music, but I actually enjoy listening to this song."
"R-Really? Why?"
"Why I hate Japanese music, or why I like this song?" Joseph asked Shizuka.
"Both."
"Well, I think you know the answer to the first one. God-damn Sadao Kujo. Oh... and the second one, well..."
Shizuka awaited his response, perfectly feigning ignorance. It was the third time she'd gone through this exact scenario.
"It's by Jotaro's favorite singer, Toshinobu Kubota. It's called You Were Mine. You know, half of the time we were in Egypt, he'd have his Sony Walkman plugged in listening to this fellow's music. I gave it a listen, just trying to improve our grandfather-grandson bond, and boy, did I not regret it!"
"Jotaro really does have a good taste in music, I guess." Shizuka said.
"He has good taste in a lot of things. I wish he'd talked more when he was a kid, I would've been able to understand him better. But it's nice to see that's he's making an effort at it now, especially after what happened in 2012."
"Whatever happened back then... it changed him a lot. But for the better. I think seeing and experiencing all those things back then with Jolyne made him someone different." Shizuka pondered aloud.
"Yeah... they did. I'm proud of them for making the moves that they did. Come to think of it, they really did save the whole world, didn't they?" Joseph chuckled. "I guess it was ultimately that blond-haired uncle of mine who did, but it just goes to show just how great us Joestars can be."
Shizuka's stomach began to grumble.
"I haven't eaten in a while." Shizuka said.
"Looks like you'll have to wait just a bit longer, dear. I'm sure you can go an hour longer. I'll get Roses to cook up the fish we caught today for dinner, wouldn't that be nice?"
