The ship had finally docked in Singapore and the now rather big group was standing near the port, discussing what to do next.

"Good grief. We finally made it to dry land." commented the French. "We'll clean up and get some rest at a hotel. Once we recharge we figure out our route to Egypt." declared the old man. Suddenly a police man came running. "Hey, you. Turn around. Yea, you with the flat top!" the officer pointed at Polnareff. "You threw this trash, didn't you? Then it's a five-hundred Singapore dollar fine!" "No way." responded the French, "Five hundred?" "The law here prohibits littering and fines all violators for doing so!" explained the police man. "Five hundred Singapore dollars..." Kakyoin calculated. "I think that's gotta be about forty thousand yen." finished the old man. "Are you clear on that, punk?" questioned the police officer and pointed at a bag on the floor. "What are you talking about, sir?" wondered Polnareff. Kate and Avdol escaped a little laugh. "All I see on the ground here" continued the French, "is my own luggage. So you got me a little confused, man. Would you be so kind as to tell me what trash you're referring to, officer? If I'm wrong, then I'm obeying the law, right?" The officer started sweating, clearly embarrassed of his mistake. "You mean, that bag's your luggage?" "Yeah. You got it." responded the silver-haired. The police office apologised and everyone started laughing. The laughter stopped abruptly as another, higher laughter mingled into the others. Anne. "Hmph." she turned her head away, nose high in the air.

"What's up with this kid? She's still following us like a lost puppy." commented Polnareff. "Hey, weren't you going to see your father?" asked the old man. "Why don't you stop tagging along?
You're here now so get going along." Polnareff tried to shoo her off. "I'm meeting up with him in five days. I can go wherever the hell I want!" she turned her head away again. "I'm not taking orders from you jerks."

"She mustn't. She'll be in danger if she stays with us." stated Avdol. "Well maybe" pondered Kakyoin, "she lacks the cash for a place to stay." "Then that's it." concluded the old man, "We'll have to get her a hotel room for the time being. Hey Polnareff, get her to come with us, and try not to bruise her ego." "I highly doubt this insensitive jerk can tell anyone anything without bruising their ego."

"Hey. You're stinkin' poor, aren't you?" started the Frenchman and Kate simultaneously buried her head in her hand. "Consider this your lucky day, freeloader. "Oh, for god's sake." muttered the old man." "I told you." grumbled Kate "This guy doesn't have one sensitive bone in his body." Kakyoin and Avdol chuckled. "Great. Looks like I'm stuck with ya." Kate grumbled and Anne looked rather dejected. Her face, however, lit up when she saw Kate's outstretched hand. Kate was walking ahead, not waiting for the girl and instead trusting her to catch up. The girl ran and grabbed the woman's hand.

"Good choice, Anne. Kate may pull a face but she'll protect you for as long as you'll stay with us." told Avdol. "That's what makes Kate great." added the old man. "She'll always be ready to help and comfort others not matter how much she's suffering herself. She's always been like that. I've known her ever since she was five, so she's like a granddaughter to me, and I worry about her. She'll always be there to catch other's when they fall, but who'll be there to catch her when she falls? I know deep down she's just like a fragile flower. She's had to suffer so much already and the day will come when she breaks. I just hope that she'll have found an anchor of her own by then."

They hadn't been walking long when they were interrupted again. "Excuse me. We must ask you to come with us. You're under arrest for conspiring with the devil." Polnareff wanted to protest but Avdol held him back. "For now it's better if we just go with him quietly." And so they were put in hand shells and taken away. "Don't worry." Avdol calmly explained, "Kate will get us out. These people are from the Black Society. Kate will let them have it." As Jotaro looked in the rear mirror of the car they had been squeezed into, he indeed saw Kate, Anne beside her, watching them leave.
