There he stood, his fingers stuck up Polnareff's nose, not knowing how to proceed from here.
"What's the matter, Polnareff?", Avdol asked, his voice drawing closer with every step he took.
"Hey, Polnareff,", that was the voice of the old fart, "did you find the person tailing us?"
It was only a matter of seconds till they would round the corner!
"Say something.", demanded Avdol, whilst steadily approaching.
"Avdol and the others will be here soon.", stated Polnareff, his voice all weird due to his nose.
"Damnit! How am I gonna get out of this one?", thought Hol Horse. Polnareff used his chance while the blonde was distracted for a moment to free his nose and summon Silver Chariot. But Hol Horse was fast to react and summoned his Emperor and aimed it right at Polnareff's face, right under his nose actually, forcing the French to look down the barrel of his gun.
Silver Chariot disappeared.
"I- I'm the fastest quickdraw around! Now don't move or you're dead!", Hol Horse did his best to hide his panic.
"Hey, did you say something? Polnareff!", Mr. Joestar queried, his suspicion only growing further.
Hol Horse could now hear their steps as they got closer and panic seeped into his bones. He'd have to act- and fast.
"Polnareff!", Avdol called out again.
He spotted a small space, just big enough to fit him inside, between the two walls, forming the corner he and Polnareff were in front. Hol Horse took no chances and hid in that space, pulling Polnareff in front and instructing him to act casually, whilst pressing his Emperor against the back of Polnareff's head. Just in time because the three men rounded the corner in that very moment and looked at the scene before them.
"Hang on, you've been here the entire time?", wondered Avdol, "What's wrong? Did you find someone following us or not?"
"Well, uh...", stumbled Polnareff.
"Damn. This is getting uglier by the second. They backed me into a corner! That darn comic book! I was supposed to get my big chance after sticking up my fingers Polnareff's nose, but everything's gone south! And I'm about to be in a whole lot of trouble!", thought Hol Horse, sweat dropping down his face.
"Is everything all right, Polnareff?", wondered Avdol after the French's weird response.
"Uh, of course.", responded Polnareff.
"Well, now I've really stepped in it. If Avdol finds me I'm as good as dead! I think I'm gonna cry. If I would have known this was gonna happen, I would have just blown him away from a distance!", Hol Horse cursed in his mind, "Dammit, Mondatta! This is all your fault, you know that! Polnareff's sword would have had nothing on my gun!"His train of thought was interrupted when Avdol inquired again, "Polnareff?"
That bastard was doing a terrible job! He was all awkward!
"At least Kate isn't here. She'd have caught on right away and I can't have that.", Hol Horse thought, "But...if she's not with them....where is she?" An extremely unsettling idea. If anyone would manage to jump out of the shadows in this damn corner, it was her. In that very moment the girl's voice startled the life out of him."Jesus, guys. You have to stop leaving without saying a single word! I was there talking to myself in the middle of the street like some weirdo!", she complained, though it was clear from her voice she wasn't really mad at them. Hol Horse was certain he could hear the smile she had on her face and was relieved, maybe, just- maybe, she would remain oblivious. However...his hopes were crushed as quickly as he got the up.
"Hold on. What's going on here?", she asked.
Hol Horse pressed the barrel harder into Polnareff's skull, telling him silently, "You need an invitation? Tell them to scram! Because, I swear to you Polnareff, if I'm found out I'm taking you down with me!""I-I was wrong no one was tailing us.", the French finally stuttered out, "Guess it was just my imagination."
"Then why are you standing in the corner like that?", questioned Kate.
"Tell them you wanted to find a place to take a leak!", ordered Hol Horse, pressing his gun against the French's skull once more, "Do it or you'll take a bullet to your head."
"I had to take a whiz and couldn't find a toilet, so...", explained Polnareff quickly.
"Really? Here? You?!", Kate was seriously doubting that.
"Come on, you were peeing in the street?", inquired Mr. Joestar, "Even after all this time, your lack of shame amazed me."
"How urgent was it that you gave up on a toilet? Couldn't you have just asked in a café if you could use their restroom or something?", added Kate.
