CHAPTER FIVE

LUNA AND MAX were in the basement Saturday afternoon, the older ginger was shooting her arrows double time at the targets she had hung on the wall. Max was sitting on the steps with a book that she has to read for her English class. She was still angry about the stunt that Billy pulled the other day, that was shown in the way she fiercely sent her arrows flying.

Archery had always helped her calm her emotions, it sent her into a headspace where she felt completely at ease. Even now she was slowly feeling the calmness take over her, her arrow flying speed slowing down within the minute and her grip loosening just slightly on her bow.

As she goes to let another arrow fly she hears her sister groan a few feet back, "This book is so boring!" Max complained, then she heard the book hit the ground with a smack.

She snorted as she placed her arrow back in her quiver and turned around to her younger sister, "That's usually what happens when you have to do a book report, they're not supposed to be fun."

Max sighs, "Archery is so cool, how do you do it?"

Luna grins, "Want me to teach you, Maxie?"

Max stands up from the stair, "Show me your ways, Lulu."

She smiled at the childhood nickname her sister gave her, "Okay, come over here." She takes off her quiver and helps put it on her sister's shoulder, then she hands her the bow and shows her where to place her fingers on the weapon. "Okay, so it's all about breathing, alright?" Max nods, "So you pull the arrow from the quiver which is on your shoulder, and then you line it up with the string," Max does what she says, "Yeah, good." She nods, "And then you take a deep through your nose." Max does that, "Pull the arrow back, visualize your target, and... release."

Max let's the arrow fly and Luna chuckles when it hits the wall below the target. Max groaned, "I suck."

"No." Luna shakes her head as she walks to the wall and pulls the arrow out of the wall, "You're a beginner. I was the same way when I first learned how to use the bow and arrow."

Max sighs, "I should've gone to summer camp when I had the chance, maybe I could be a master archer by now."

Luna rolls her eyes, "I'm not a master archer, trust me. There are better archers out there than me."
