MYSTIFYINGCHAPTER EIGHT
The Bat and The Bow
╚════ ∘◦ ☆ ◦∘ ════╝AFTER A LONG WALK on the train tracks, they arrived at the junkyard. As Luna looked around at the open space she saw an abandoned bus, and rusted up cars all over the area. She dropped her bucket of meat to the ground and cracked her knuckles after removing the rubber gloves, she really needed a break after all that time of holding the heavy object.
"So, what do you think?" Dustin asked.
Steve sighs with his shades over his eyes, "Oh, yeah. Yeah, this will do. This will do just fine." He pulls off his glasses with his clean gloved hand and walks ahead. "Good call, dude."
Luna nudges Dustin which makes him grin, "Nice job, kid." Then she picks up the bucket once more and follows Steve as he drops nuggets of meat in the grassy area.
After covering the place with steak nuggets they place down their buckets, she watches as Steve dumps his entire bucket out on the ground leaving the meat in a small pile on the grass.
"I said medium-well!" A voice said, she turned to see who it was and her eyes widened and her lips parted when she saw who it was.
Lucas waving on his bike and her little sister Max standing beside him.
"Who's that?" Steve questioned.
"That is my little sister." She walked forward, "Max, what the hell are you doing here?"
"What am I doing here?" Max asked, "What are you doing here, Luna?"
"Dustin needed help, he called on the walkie-talkie and nobody answered him so I picked up because I was still on the same channel as the others."
"Well, Lucas dragged me out here to prove that everything he told me was true." Max replies with her arms crossed.
Luna raised her brows, "You don't believe him?"
"No! Of course I dont." Max exclaims, "This is obviously just a prank and I will not fall for it."
Luna sighs, "Dustin told me everything too, I don't think this is a prank, Maxie."
Max scoffs, "Don't tell me you're falling for this bullshit."
Luna pinches her brow in irritation, "It's not bullshit, I wouldn't have brought my bow and arrows if it was. And now that you're here, not only do I have to protect myself but I have to protect you too."
