CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE
( love on the brain )

They had a long walk in the woods ahead of them, they didn't know where the gate was but Steve and Dustin were leading the way to it, following the direction of the younger boy's compass. As everyone was in their pairs Luna found herself strolling alongside Eddie Munson. She hadn't spoken to him since the day of her panic attack at the school during the pep rally, but they hadn't talked since that day, not really.

She figured now would be as good of a time as any.

"Hey, Eddie?" She asked him, she catches his eye as he walked right next to her.

"What's up, Red?" He asks.

"I just wanted to say thanks again, for the help with my panic attack in the hallway at the pep rally."

"It was no problem, Mayfield. I saw a person in need and I offered a hand, I'm just glad I could help." He said, a kind smile pulled upon his lips.

"It seems like that's what you're best at, offering a hand to those in need. Mr. Hellfire club."

"Ah, you've heard about that?" Eddie chuckles, "Yeah, I uh, I see the lost sheeps around the school and I give them a place to you know, belong. Feel at home in a place that makes them feel like outsiders."

"It sounds really nice, you taking in strays." She smiles softly, "Thanks for lending a hand and taking in ours by the way, Mike, Dustin and Lucas. They're uh... they're definitely a handful. But they're all good kids."

"Oh, they're hellions, definitely." He laughs lightly, "But they're great members of the club. Really passionate about the game, even Lucas, even though he has his basketball team to fall back on."

"Yeah, well, I don't think he has his team to fall back on anymore. Considering he ditched them to come and help you."

Eddie glanced her way, seemingly surprised. "Really? Sinclair ditched Jason and his dipsticks? Shit. He might be becoming my new favorite just for that." He leaned towards her whispering, "Don't tell Dustin I said that."
