Shuichi loves to link pinkies with Kaede in public.
Shuichi isn't big PDA person, and actually gets embarrassed by some of the slightest PDA moves Kaede does. But something about linking pinkies makes him feel fluffy inside and give him an extra boost of self esteem he needs.
That small smile on his face is one you can only see whenever they're doing this notion. He doesn't feel embarrassed but rather loved, a feeling he has not felt with anyone, since his parents basically abandoned him he's never really had self worth.
But with Kaede and this small motion it makes him happy!
