Isn't Celeste supposed to be alive? Or shouldn't everybody after this trial be dead?

Monokuma said he'll only punish the first killer and the second doesn't get anything and it's a worthless murder. That means the second murderer wouldn't count as a blackened but as a regular student.

Yes, Celeste planned to murder Taka but Hifumi was the one that pulled it off, and then Celeste killed Hifumi.

Do you see where I'm getting at?

The right answer should've been Hifumi since he was the first murderer of the chapter. If they all voted Hifumi, they would've been right, Celeste is still alive and will try and kill again, most likely.

But they voted for Celeste, meaning that they got it wrong and they all have to die.

But that didn't happen, of course. She was treated as the murderer of both Taka and Hifumi and was executed.

Did Monokuma just break his own rule without realizing it? Didn't they all technically vote wrong? Why make such a rule if you're going to break it that easily?

Point is, I went big-brain for the first time.
