Jay took her to his favourite place; this was where his change began few years ago.
This exact park. He wanted to bring her here to tell her about Sunghoon.
It was the asylum of his soul in those rebellious days.
The place was beautiful, it was familiar to Bella, she had been here a few times here before.
Away from the heart of the town and in the embrace of the nature, nothing could beat the comfort of the wooden bench and the fresh evening breeze that flew by.
The sun was about to set and the two of them sit on the bench under a big luscious green tree, observing the laughter of children and beauty around.
Bella was quiet all the way here, she did not know what to say to him, he was the cause of what happened today. But something in here told her that it was right, and it was needed.
Maybe she'll make up with Jake and this could finally help her move on, oh lord who was she kidding she was so upset about everything. Mostly about Jake knowing about her dating.
That made her think that her chance with him was officially over.
"What do you think of this park?" Jay probs as he leans back on the bench, outstretching hands on the backrest. And then he glances at her, his face dazzling with the last ray of sunlight.
Bella found herself intimidated by his beauty and she gazes at him for a little too long.
She immediately looks away when he raises an eyebrow at her playfully and the thought of almost calling him cute slurs her, "Cu-It's beautiful. The Park is handsome. I mean it's beautiful."
Suddenly the park seemed a little more relieving than looking at his face, and here she goes embarrassing her own self for the umpteenth time.
Jay chortles at her cute expression, nudging his elbow on her arm, he impishly asks, "Which Park are you talking about?"
"Definitely not the Jay Park I know." Bella discloses and they both have a good laugh about it.
Jay looks at her laughing and smiles to himself, mission accomplished.
Bella leans forward and twists towards Jay, her smile fading into a stern, "You wanted to tell me about Sunghoon."
Jay purses his lips and lets his head rest on the wooden surface, "But first you'll have to know me."
He was trying not to show how much it meant for him, their friendship.
He tells her about his past experiences, about that incident in the basement, Sunghoon being bullied. She vaguely nods her head in acknowledgement.
Jay continues, "I decided to bring a change in myself, small striding steps... resulting in a big achievement."
Flashback
13-year-old Jay had decided to stop doing things he would regret in the future and instead make memories something he would be proud to think about.
He chose to start with the one who made him realise it, Sunghoon. Jay unknowingly wanted to befriend him.
So, he started to know more about Sunghoon's daily routines and Jay followed him everywhere.
Jay realised that apart from ice skating on the rink back in their sports academy on weekends, he also went to a park on every Tuesdays and Thursdays.
After that incident his gang members planned for more trouble for both Jake and Sunghoon but mostly for Sunghoon because he was an easy target according to them.
And Jay used to misled them by saying that he did not see Sunghoon anywhere. Even though he clearly knew where he was at the moment. In that particular Park.
He always made-up excuses and protected Sunghoon from them, without him knowing about it. But he did not know back then that Sunghoon knew everything.
Jay wasn't a devil even though he acted like one.
Sunghoon had seen him since past 6 months, following him on most weekdays and he knew it was Jay who didn't expose them back in the basement. And also, that suddenly his bullies had stopped troubling him. Even if they did, it was in school, not in after hours.
It was a relief for Sunghoon.
Sunghoon had two new friends now, Jake and Bella. He was so grateful to have them, his life was getting much better and he started liking his stay more in this country.
But he had to thank one of his guardian angels, who made it possible for him-Jay.
One fine day, Sunghoon bought daffodils on thanks giving, specifically for Jay.
And that was the beginning of new start, a start of an unexpected friendship.
