Episode 10, The Day of the Black Sun: Part 1

We made it to the rendezvous place four days before we would meet the others. Four days until the invasion.

While the others and me decided to get as much rest as possible Aang was freaking himself out. After a good night's rest, we woke up to Aang punching a tree.

He was worrying too much about everything.

"You know, there's something such as overtraining," Katara said but Aang only freaked out more.

The poor guy was super anxious about the invasion. He worried about his form, his bending and that he didn't even know the basics of firebending. I shook my head slightly, he forgot that he couldn't use firebending during the invasion even if he wanted to.

These four days didn't only stress out Aang but also the rest of us as we were trying to calm him down and help him sleep.

The other part of our crew finally arrived at the island, and we were ready to go through the plan together.

The whole group was simply incredible. There were so many new, different and talented people. And there even were some familiar faces like the Boulder or the swamp people.

I met so many cool people. I had a good feeling about our plans for once.

So, Sokka explained or rather tried to explain his great plan to everyone. He started rambling so my dad took over.

But as soon as everyone got the plan, we all got on the ships and headed to the Fire Nation. And I was pretty nervous.

The thought of failing or messing up made my chest tighten. No one could afford to mess this up. If we don't stop the fire lord, the whole world has to pay the price for that.

The whole journey to the Fire Nation was nerve wrecking. I couldn't sit still and always had to do something like bouncing my knee up and down, biting my fingernails or taping my fingers on something. Didn't matter what I did, as long as there was something I was doing.

When the Gates of Azulon came into view I could finally do something for real, some real action. But there weren't even gates. I slightly knitted my eyebrows and only saw three huge statues.

The one in the middle was a person, probably Azulon, and then to each side of the person, a few hundred metres away each, there were huge dragon statues.

The waterbenders from the swamp and Katara and me created some fog so that we could stay unnoticed. "Keep it up we're almost through," my dad told us but of course fate had other plans.

Before even one of the boats reached the gates, an alarm started to ring. Smoke was coming out of the dragon statues' noses and two black nets startet coming up.

The nets were attatched to the dragons' mouths and to the statue of Azulon. When they were completely up, the nets were put on fire by the dragon statues.

"Ah, there are the gates," I commented and watched the burning nets as the others looked at them with shock.

That's when Fire Nation Soldiers came towards us with their boats and dad ushered everyone in the inside of the boat. "Hurry kids."

Sokka's invention was crazy. We got into the submarines that had been attached to our boats and were able to get through the gates from under water. And no one would notice it.

"You've really outdone yourself this time, son," dad said and looked around the submarine.

"You're a genius big bro," I smiled and looked out the window to watch all the fish.
