Episode 13, The Firebending Masters
I was so excited for the training and sat on the ground a few metres away from them, crossing my legs.
Zuko crossed his arms as he stood opposite of Aang. "I know youre nervous, but remember, firebending in and of itself is not something to fear."
Aang released a deep breath and repeated, "Okay, nothing to fear."
Zuko knitted his eyebrows slightly and calmy started, "But if you don't respect it." There was a quick pause before his voice rose, "It'll chew you up and spit you out like an angry komodo rhino!"
My eyed widened and Aang let out an 'Ugh' and stepped away from Zuko. Why would he say something like that so aggressively?
"Now, show me what you've got. Any amount of fire you can make."
Aang nodded and took a deep breath. With an open palm he punched to the side. But only a bit of smoke came out. Okay, I expected more, I admit.
Aang smiled innocently before lowering his head. "Maybe I need a little more instruction. Perhaps a demonstration?" Aang suggested and slightly looked up at Zuko.
"Good idea," the Prince nodded. "You might wanna take a couple steps back."
Aang did as he said and stopped at my side. "You'll get the hang of it don't worry," I told him before giving Zuko my attention.
He took a deep breath as well before punching to the side. I knitted my eyebrows when only a small flame came out of his fist.
Aang clapped as I stood up and tilted my head to the side.
Zuko stood up straight and looked lost. "What was that? That was the worst firebending I've ever seen!" he exclaimed.
"I thought it was nice," Aang admitted and shrugged while I still didn't get what was wrong with his firebending.
Zuko punched holes in the air but everytime it was only a tiny flame that came out of his fist.
He groaned and glared at his fist, "Why is this happening?!"
"Maybe it's the altitude?" Aang shrugged and rubbed his bald head.
Zuko turned his back to us as his shoulders dropped, "Yeah could be."
So we changed the place and went to the destroyed fountain. There, Zuko still couldn't firebend properly. He groaned and punched harder.
Aang yawned and laid down on a rock.
"Just breathe, and..." Zuko punched again but the flame was still kinda bad and small.
Aang sat up, "That on kinda felt hot."
I pressed my lips together to prevent myself from laughing.
"Don't partonize me!" Zuko snapped, "You know what it's supposed to look like."
"Sorry, Sifu Hotman," Aang said and I let out a snort.
"And stop calling me that!"
"Oh come on that name is great," I joked and let out a chuckle.
Sokka approached us, biting into an apple. He sat down beside me and Aang. "Hey jerks, mind if I watch you three jerks do your jerk bending?"
Zuko was really getting frustrated. "Get out of here!" he snapped and pointed to the direction my brother came from.
"Okay, take it easy," Sokka raised his hand as he stood up, "I was just kidding around."
Before he left he laughed at his own joke, "Ha, jerk bending. Still got it."
