Episode 20, The Siege of the North Part 2

Just before we went off the ship too, I looked at Iroh who nodded at me and mouthed a ‘goodbye’.

I shot him a smile and nodded, mouthing a ‘thank you’ before I turned around and ran without looking back.

Luckily, there was too much chaos going on and Zhao was too focused on fighting water benders that he didn’t notice me running away.

I ran and ran and bumped into all different kinds of people who all looked scared of me. I didn’t know why but then I realised that I had a Fire Nation’s uniform on.

I shrugged it off and my first instinct was to find my older brother. I didn’t know where to start but for the first time life sent me luck.

I didn’t need to look for him as he just came out of a building a few metres away.

“Sokkii!” I shouted and ran towards him in hope he could hear me with all the noise and trouble going on.

I smiled brightly and released a deep breath when he stopped and looked around.

He sent me a bright smile back when he saw me and as soon as I was in his reach he engulfed me in a bone-crushing hug.

“I missed you so much,” I mumbled and hugged him tightly. “I missed you too,” he said and parted the hug, “but are you okay?” he asked me and inspected my face for any injuries.

“I’m fine,” I said and looked around noticing the chaos again, “but we should probably get moving,” I told him. We could reunite later when this all is over.

He nodded, his face getting serious again. I followed him and after a few minutes he was walking towards a girl with white hair.

“Princess Yue!” he called and the girl looked at him with a worried look on her face.

“A boy attacked us and took Aang;” she said as soon as we reached her. Sokka nodded and quickly got on Appa, the girl and me following his lead.

I didn’t think she noticed me yet but when she finally did, she screamed and wanted to hit me. I blocked her hand and Sokka turned his head towards us.

“She’s from the Fire Nation,” the girl exclaimed and got closer to Sokka. I smirked because it seemed like Sokka found a girlfriend.

“No, that’s my sister. I told you about her,” he calmed the girl down and she looked relieved after she knew who I was.

She apologised to me but I waved it off and enjoyed the flight on Appa. It was my first time flying with Appa and it was a great feeling. It gave me a tiny bit of a freedom like feeling.

That feeling ended when we landed again in a warm oasis in the middle of the North Pole. How could it be that it was so warm here?

I got off of Appa and saw Katara also with worry shining in her eyes. I didn’t know how to react to Katara since we had an argument the last time I had talked to her.

She saw me and her eyes widened and filled with tears. My twin ran up to me and engulfed me in a hug and mumbled a thousand sorrys. It was great to finally hug Katara again. It gave a sense of home.

“We can have our family reunion later. But we need to find Aang,” Sokka said and looked between us.

We nodded and got onto Appa’s back, ready to find Aang. He started flying and we were looking in all directions and stopped once in a while.

After a few long minutes, we finally found a trace. Secretly, I kind of hoped that Zuko is long gone until we arrive because I didn’t want to meet him again but I also didn’t want my siblings to hurt him.
