I freeze. My heart sinks, and I try to ignore my gut wrenching as time slows. Just. My. Luck.
It's been a while since I really looked at him. I spent a lot of time trying to forget his existence, it never worked. At least I never ran into him. Like ever.
I'm shocked to say the least. As much as I hate to admit it Greyson's always been attractive, but now that's he grown I can't even fathom an accurate description, so I won't even try. Just know that he's drop dead gorgeous.
His hair was perfect. He had soft curls and it was absolutely messy, but it was perfect. The deep brown almost black locs sat on his forehead nearly covering his beautiful dark green eyes. His jawline was sharp enough to cut the tension in the room right now. Though it way only be acknowledged by the two of us, because it felt like we were the only ones here.
We shared the same reaction; utter shock. That of which he quickly masks; his face returning to it's neutral state, not a tinge of emotion can be seen.
Like it was never there.
I'm snapped out of my daze when I hear my biology teacher ask, "Excuse me, may you please take a seat?Class is about to begin."
"Sorry." I practically whisper, reluctantly heading to the only seat available, next to Greyson. My teacher gives me a small smile before introducing herself.
"Good morning everyone. I'm Mrs. White, and welcome to 12th grade advanced biology."
And then the realization set in. This is advanced biology. Of course he'd be here.
Believe it or not, there's a fully functioning brain in Greyson's head that's shoved up his ass. Like me, he was an academic overachiever; passed all of his classes with nothing lower than B+. I always felt like I was smarter though.
I definitely looked the part. I always wore a messy bun, with thick black rimmed glasses and there was never a time I didn't have a book clutched against my chest. I'd just recently switched to contacts, and I usually wear my hair down. I'd never ditch my books though.
The teacher gave everyone a hand out and told us to read over it during the class period. I was internally grateful for not having to interact with Greyson.

"After almost three years..." I start.
It's lunchtime and Mya and I are sitting at a table in the cafeteria.
"Three years without him being in any of my classes, now I'm stuck in four of them with him! Four." I shout.
"I know." Mya says.
"But things are different now. This isn't freshman year. Don't let him get to you, and if he does he'll have to speak with me." Mya says the last bit a little too calmly and I feel a chill run down my spine.
I told you. That woman is scary when she's angry.
"You're right. Things are going to be different. I just have to avoid him for the rest of the school year. How hard can it be?"
As if he somehow heard me, the cafeteria doors swing open and Greyson, Kevin and Jacob enter heading towards a table in the corner of the room where they are no longer visible. I roll my eyes and turn back to Mya who's pretend texting on her phone looking down. I roll my eyes again.
"You know he likes you right?" I say like it's obvious. Which it is, but she's either oblivious to it or scared to admit it.
"Who likes me?" she asks. I know what she's doing.
"Don't play dumb with me I know you like Jacob."
"I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about." she argues in a robotic voice.
"Look at you! You practically programmed yourself to say that. Look me in my eyes right now and tell me that you don't have feelings for him."
Her eyes were everywhere but mine. "I don't have feelings for him."
"That's what I thought."
Mhm hmm.

I stop to Starbucks with Mya on our way home after school like we do every other day.
We have a routine:
She comes to my house every morning and we leave for school together taking turns driving. We leave school together and Mya stays at my house until it gets dark out, or when I have to go to dance practice. Her life at home is a bit complicated so she stays at mine for as long as she can. My parents think of her as their third daughter, so she's more than welcomed. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little jealous of how close she is with my little sister Lilith, who's a few years younger than us.
We don't hangout as much as I'd like. We barely talk at all, not anymore at least. She stays inside of her room all day reading books, playing video games, or watching anime. So she's doing just that when I knock on her door and enter after receiving permission to.
"Hey Lil, you wanna go for ice-cream?"
"Huh?" she says removing her headset. "Oh...sure" she says shrugging her shoulders. "Is...everything okay?"
"Yeah why wouldn't it be?" I say with a convincing smile.
"No reason."
"Okayyyyy...meet me in the car in 5." I freshen up a bit grab my keys and head to the car to get ice-cream.
