Greyson

"Are you hiding?" I ask the girl before me that's for some reason hiding under her Tangled themed blanket.

"Pfft no. I'm obviously counting my toes," she lies.

"Righttt, as if you don't already know that you have ten of them."

"Doesn't hurt to check," she mutters. She's a terrible a liar, and she has been from before I can remember. I still don't know how her parents never found out we hated each other.

"Okay then. Why are you hiding?"

"Because..." she starts, but she doesn't finish. There's a long silence as if she's reluctant to answer.

"Because I don't want you to see me like this."

I can tell it's a big deal for her, what I don't understand is why. There isn't a version of her I haven't seen. She's beautiful in all. Even when she's trembling with fear or embarrassingly drunk. She's never been anything but beautiful to me.

"See you like what?"—

—"Why're you here?"

"I'm here to talk to you," I say as if it wasn't obvious.

"Then talk."

"I'm not here to talk to Pascal. I want to talk to you. Uncovered-by-a-blanket you."

It's silent for a while before she replies, "I can't."

"Yes, you can."

"I can't."

"You can, you just don't want to."

"No. I can't," she practically whispers.

"Why?"

"Because I'm the same !"

"What?" I ask completely confused and a bit taken aback by her slight hostility. "Of course you're the same why would you want to change?"

"You don't get it." Her voice is weak again and trembling like she's about to cry.

"Then make me get it, Allison. I want to get it," I plead. "Please."

I need to get it.

After a moment of complete silence she slowly removes the blanket but her timidity doesn't waver. My body instantly reacts to the sight of her in more ways than one.

Her hair is tied up in a messy bun with lots of loose hairs framing her face. She looks beautiful all the time but Allison in a messy bun does something to me. If only she knew the affect she has on me.

She has on her thick rimmed glasses that I haven't seen since freshman year. She looks so nerdy and innocent with them on. Exactly the way she did that day twelve years ago; the day I realized I was in love with her.

Her cheeks are unnoticeably rounder than they were the last time I saw her. But I do notice because those were the cheeks I made fun of when we were kids. They have a hint on pink on them as she eyes her blanket. Her full pink lips in a slight frown.

Although in a crouch as she hugs her knees, I can see she's wearing a cute faded My Little Pony shirt on and it causes me to break into a wide grin. She's been obsessed with those ponies since the day that I met her and I'm glad she still is.

"What?"

"Never"— I'm cut off by a knock on the door.

"Hey uh Grey, I think you should come down here before"—

"IT WON'T STICK FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. DAVIDDDDDD." Mrs. Greene shrieks.

What in the world is going on?

"Andddd she's lost it." Allison says as she slowly slips under her blanket in fear.

"Wait a minute lost what? What are you talking about?"

"Her sanity."
