Greyson
"Hey... W-what's going on?" Lana quivers walking over to me with Allison in my arms.
"Stay away from her okay?" I warn. "You and your sister did enough."
"Wait you're not saying we did this are you?" Lydia practically whispers. She's still stuck standing at the table her eyes wide and absolutely terrified.
"Getting you three to admit your faults is practically impossible. So how about you stop pretending you give a shit and leave?" I stand carrying Allison in my arms to the nearest sofa.
I rest her down and head to the kitchen to run some cold water over a cloth to wipe the sweat that's formed on her forehead from distress like I did that night at my house. I walk in and see Mel leaning against the counter staring into space, tears falling from her eyes.
I don't know what gave me the courage to but I felt the need to pull her in for a hug. I absolutely hate physical touch, but I know the face of someone who needs a hug. I know I wish someone gave one to me when I needed it.
She hugs me back tightly before letting go, "Thank you."
"Thank you. For raising such an amazing woman. She's a little broken but she's trying. And it's because you taught her to never give up. So thank you."
"I'm sorry you found out about it this way. I know she wanted to tell you herself when the time was right."
"It wasn't your fault. The only words that matter are the ones that leave her lips."
I head back to Allison and kneel beside her to gently wipe her distraught features with the cool cloth. I really hope one day she sees herself the way I do. Because even now, in complete distress, I think that she's the most beautiful person in the world.
Inside and out.
"Shouldn't we be taking her to the hospital?" I overhear Sylvia ask, completely disregarding the fact that she's no longer wanted here.
"She hates hospitals," David answers. "So we'll leave it up to her when she wakes up if she wants to go."
"What the hell do you mean leave it up to her? Look at her!"
"I SEE HER!" he shouts. "God dammit I've seen her like that more times than I can count and it never gets any easier. There isn't anything the doctor can do until she wakes up. We can handles things here until then. I'm not going to put my daughter in that traumatic place unless I absolutely need to alright?"
"Now get the hell out of my house."
Sylvia stands there for a moment completely dumbfounded. Without another word her and her daughters pick up and leave. As soon as the door slams David and I simultaneously sigh in relief.
"Finally," I breathe.
"You should probably leave too Grey. You're probably tired and you've done more than enough. Thank you but we've got everything under control now."
"Thanks, but if it's alright with you I'd like to stay until she wakes up."
"You're going to stay even if it's not alright with me. Aren't you?"
"Yup," I shrug.
"You're stubborn just like your father you know that?" he laughs slapping my shoulder.
The sentence and his hand stings but it's because I of all people know exactly how stubborn my father really is. But to be compared to that man is an insult.
"Alright. I leave my daughter in your care." His smile immediately drops and he gets all serious.
David never gets serious.
"Take good care of her. You break her I break you. Got it?"
"Yes sir." I nod.
"Good. She's going to be out like that for a while, so take her to her room where she'll be most comfortable when she wakes. You can come back down anytime you like. Mel and I will be right here."
"Alright."
After lifting her upstairs to her room and removing her socks and shoes I heavily contemplated removing her bottoms. I do anyway because I know she won't be comfortable sleeping in them. Thankfully she's wearing shorts underneath so she won't have to kill me later.
I place a soft kiss on her forehead and stroke her hair for a while before leaving the room and going to her sister's. I knock twice before she opens the door wearing a headset and mic.
Unlike Allison who has brunette hair with blonde highlights and hazel eyes, Lilith has dark blond hair that compliments her green eyes. They look absolutely nothing alike but there's no mistaking that they're sisters. Their mannerisms and behavior are almost identical in every way possible.
"Hey."
"Hey can I come in? I wanted to talk for a second," I ask.
"Sure," she says walking over to her desk to tell her friends that she'll be afk for a minute. She takes a seat in her gaming chair and that swivels in my direction.
"She had another attack didn't she?"
"I- You knew about it?"
"They've been trying to hide this from me for three years. Trying and failing might I add."
"Wait. THREE YEARS?" I ask in disbelief. Allison's had this eating disorder that long?
She let's out a loud semblance of a laugh and I'm utterly confused as to what's so funny.
"I'm sorry that was rude it's just- I thought you knew. Don't feel bad. I'm her sister and she's trying to keep me in the dark too, they all are," she says and I can't miss the anger present in her tone.
"And you're upset about it?"
"Of course I'm upset about it. She's my sister for god's sake. I want to be there for her but she won't let me," she scoffs.
"You know, we were each other's best friend a while ago. I mean of course she had Mya, but we three we're inseparable. They never held the fact that they were two years older over my head and kept secrets from me. Als and I we're closer that you could ever imagine.
Then one night after some school dance she came home crying and it was the first time she'd ever shut me out. We never talked or hung out together since. Shortly after that she started losing weight and having panic and anxiety attacks. To this day I still have no idea what happened at that dance, but whatever it was took my sister away from me."
"Wait, how long ago was this dance?" I ask warily.
"Like three years ago maybe, a little more a little less. I'm not exactly sure. It was her freshman year."
Holy fuck. Wait—
