Chapter 35

Xanders POV

"You're an idiot. He's an idiot. Put me back in the coma!" Bella exclaimed once I finished explaining Aries and I's conversation from earlier.

"What?" I asked, confused at her dramatics.

"You! You need to learn communication mr! You have a mind link for a reason. Elders, Xander? You tell him this no matter how many wizard looking asses tell you not to. He's holed up in an office right now thinking you don't love him! And him! I will ring his neck! You have duties, he's an alpha, you're a king! He runs one pack, the biggest one but still! You run well over twenty and growing which are all constantly fighting with each other. The fact you are even here right now instead of back fixing everything should show him how much you wish things should be different." She finished, huffing out of breath.

"...You're right." I replied, suddenly a million thoughts running through my mind at once.

"Of course I am! I'm fricking Bella!"

"Fricking?" I asked her, chuckling.

"I don't want to swear in front of the baby."

"Of course. Well, seems I gotta go clean up some mess before I need to head back." I sighed.

"You do." She told me, crossing her arms.

"I missed you Bella. If I were straight, I'd steal you from right under Ricky." I joke.

"Good thing you're gay then." Ricky said, coming in with two cups of coffee, handing Bella one and me one.

"The baby?" she said to Ricky confused.

"Decaf." He smiled, sinking into his seat.

They are so perfect for each other.

"What are you still doing here." Ricky asked me, looking my way.

"Huh?" I asked confused.

"Go get your man!" He yelled with a smile.

"Okay!" I yelled back, taking my coffee and hugging Bella goodbye.

I waved to Ricky and headed out the hospital, running back to Aries' house. The journey didn't take long but it felt forever as I found myself on his doorstep. Opening to door in front of me, I marched to his office, bursting the door open causing Aries to jump.

Setting the coffee down on his desk, he frowned as I began ranting.

"Listen up, I was wrong I understand that-" I began as Aries quietly interrupted.

"coaster?" He asked, pointing at the coffee cup.

"-and I'm impossible to deal with sometimes I know but this is all new to me! I once thought I wouldn't ever be strong enough to be a gamma-"

"Just put a coaster-"

"-like I remember being so freaked out that I drew you in art class, now you're my mate!-"

"Xander, a coaster-"

"and this king stuff is new too! I left my training to be there for you! I always try to put you first and I'm bad at communicating sometimes but its because I don't even understand myself!-"

"This is a really nice desk, if you could put a coaster-"

"There! Theres your coaster!" I yelled, sticking a coaster under the coffee cup.

"Thank you-"

"Now, I get I'm an idiot and an ass and don't think for both of us but thats because I'm still coming to terms with you even being my mate! I died for crying out, and I still haven't even processed that, I just immediately was like 'ok time to be king', I met my father who died and I didn't even get to know him, I'm a fricking mess, Aries and I need your help but please don't give me a hard time for it. I know I need to put you first more and compromise more but I need you to help me and be patient! I am trying!" I finished, catching my breath.

"Fricking?" He asked, amused.

"Bella doesn't want to swear in front of the baby, ignore that." I huffed.

"You're right." He then said. "This is new, and you have sacrificed a lot and I've had more time to come to terms with things than you have. I have less to lose than you but this stuff with the elders? This is stuff I'd like to know I mean, its reasonable in your head why you can't do things but to me? It feels like you're shutting me out again and that scares me so I get angry or upset. We can work through this, I know it'll take time and i'm sorry for giving you such a hard time, I was just hurt."

"I'm sorry too." I breathed out.

He stood up, making his way around the desk and leaned on it, gesturing for me to come closer. Stepping forward I made my way between his knees, keeping eye contact the entire time.

"We've been through a lot, haven't we." He muttered, holding my hips.

"mhmm." I replied, flickering my eyes from his eyes to his lips.

"We need to learn how to be functional mates." He laughed, bringing his hand to the back of my neck and pulling me down for a kiss.

It was one of the most surreal firework inducing kisses we'd ever had. I realised in that moment I never wanted to be without him again.

"We do." I finally replied after we pulled apart.

"How's Bella?" He asked as he pulled me into a hug, his head nestled into my stomach.

"Good, gave me an ass whooping for going into the mountains alone." I replied, playing with strands of his hair.

"Good, you needed it." He hummed.

"Shut up." I laughed back.

Finally letting go of him, I stepped back causing a whine from him. I grabbed my coffee, taking a long drink of it, grimacing as it started to become lukewarm.

"You let go of me for coffee?" Aries gasped.

"No. Well yes but also because you are working, and I have some people I need to visit."

"Who?" He asked, getting up off the desk and circling back to sit in his chair.

"My parents." I replied, his mouth forming an 'o' shape.

"Yeah...been putting it off for too long."

"Good luck then, ill see you later for dinner?" he asked me cheerfully.

"Deal."

With that, I left his office, a grin plastered on my face. I'd checked my phone to see no new messages and then made my way towards my old home. I was nervous but excited to finally see my old family again. I just hoped they'd be excited to see me.
