On another note, where is everyone from, I'm curious!
Chapter 15:
Xanders POV
I woke up completely drained. My late night conversation with the butler really put a dent in how long I got to sleep, Not that it mattered anyways. The second my head hit the pillow I had more thoughts swirling through my head than there were spells in a witches cauldron. I was lucky if I'd slept a mere hour with my racing thoughts.
a sharp knock at my door brought me to my senses as I ripped the covers off my body and stumbled to the door. Swinging it open, there stood my mother perfectly clad in her royal gown.
"well don't you look as fresh as a daisy." She tutted, already messing with my hair to try and get it to sit in a more appropriate manor.
"Mummm!" I groaned, ducking to avoid her prying hands.
She froze and withdrew her hands, staring at me with tears wailing in her eyes.
"'oh, did I upset you?" I asked more careful and quiet, trying not to startle her.
"No, no. I just longed to hear my baby call me mum for so long it still gets me hearing you say it." She mustered out with a sniffle.
I smiled sadly in her direction and wrapped her in a hug. We stayed like that for a few moments before she withdrew from the hug to talk.
"Yesterday you mentioned wanting to go to the training camp? Are you still wanting to? I made the call and there is still space for you." Mother asked, staring at me awaiting my answer.
The flashbacks of yesterday haunted me over and over. Bella's distraught face, Aries in his anger and hurt, Molly with her pregnancy, Ricky in the sheer anger of seeing me with his mate. In all honesty, the people that made me feel like home felt like strangers. I was now a stranger to myself and no amount of longing for my old life back would change that. Going away gave me an opportunity to reinvent myself, discover who I truly wanted to be before I took on a royal empire. First and foremost, I needed to be 100% in myself, I couldn't hesitate on anything moving forward.
"Yes, I think it's best to prepare me for my role as future king." I replied, heading over to my bed and sitting back down in the mess of sheets.
"Alright then, I'll have a car ready within the hour. Start packing and get ready to leave. You'll need to wear your royal uniform, just a warning. It's just so they understand who you are when you arrive." Mother explained before leaving me to get ready.
This would be a good thing. It had to be.
I spent the next few half hour focusing on packing everything up and then got dressed. I still had ten minutes before the car was due to arrive so I quickly grabbed everything, made sure my crown was secure and headed downstairs.
Most of the staff were staring at me still in amazement of my presence. A few offered to carry my bag but I politely refused. Luckily enough by the time I'd reached the front door a car had already arrived awaiting me.
My parents were both out discussing things with the driver as a small bellboy rushed over to take my bag and place it in the back of the car. Once I made sure my bags were securely in the car, I walked over to my parents and the driver.
"Your highness." The driver said with a bow.
I was still awkward about everything royal so I just uncomfortably nodded back.
"Well son, you'll make a fine king and I'm glad you decided to take on this royal training. You know it was the very training I took as a young boy." My father said as he welled with pride, patting me on the shoulder.
I nodded in interest before giving them both a hug and saying my goodbyes. The moment was short-lived however as my parents had some royal matters to attend to leaving me and the driver.
"So I don't suppose we can't stop for ice cream on the way?" I joked much to his grimace.
"Tough crowd." I muttered, getting in the back of the car, hearing the door shut behind me.
I was already drained the second the car engine came to life. My lack of sleep was already looming over my shoulders proving this would be a long day. With the movement of the car beginning, I felt my heavy eyes close, something I welcomed with open arms.
"Master Xander." A voice called faintly as I felt a small shake on my shoulder.
"Five more minutes." I groaned as I tried to get away from the shaking.
"we've arrived master Xander." The voice I made to be the driver said.
Blinking my eyes open, I near enough hissed at the bring sunset. How long had I been out? Looking at my driver as he expected me to exit, I finally unclipped my seatbelt and exited the car with a stretch.
The door let out a thud as it was closed behind me, the driver away to get my bag. Glancing around the area, I only had one specific thing I noticed. Snow, hundreds of it, ankle deep.
"This must be prince Xander!" A voice yelled in the distance.
Looking to my left, a man was fast approaching me with a wide grin on his face.
"Depends who's asking." I quizzed.
"I'm coach James, I'll be one of the people training you into a fine prince." He smiled, finally reaching me.
"Nice to meet you then." I replied before a thud sounded from my right.
There lay my bag in the snow, soaking up the water from the snow. I immediately picked it up, scowling at the driver who dropped it. He was unbothered as he made his way back to the car, getting in.
"Loveable fella you have there." James joked.
I just nodded in reply, confused at the drivers attitude as he drove off.
"Well, how about we get you settled?" James asked, taking my bag and leading the way.
This was going to be a long three months.
