Cassandra POV
My outfit
It happened again today. I slept and moments appeared to me, Like a dream .... but there is one problem I do not dream. Dreaming is the fantasy of something we can't have. But this keeps happening, and I don't know what to do anymore. I feel it...
Another quiet morning. Morning like any other. A day like any other. But that's the thing where I'm wrong. This day is different. Unfortunately, no one could know...
I smiled as the sea breeze blew through my hair. The sun warmed my cheeks and I let myself dream for a while. For a moment I let myself succumb to the memories of the past and let myself feel. And all I felt was pain.
Not everyone can feel love.
I am not an exception.
Neither Death is.
___
"Who do you think you are?!" the witch asked me haughtily.
I turned to her with a smirk and pointed at myself, ''Me? If you annoy me a moment longer, I will be the death of you.''
She shook her head. ''The youth these days can't even show a little respect to the elders,'' as soon as she finished the sentence, the muttering of spells began and I felt a slight headache and it got worse with more witches.
''Okay. It's up to you, but I warned you,'' I growled under my breath as I let my power form into the darkness, pulling one witch after another to the ground. I came closer to the witch who is the leader of the coven. "You have to earn my respect," and I snapped her neck. "Who's next?"
I turned to the others who were shaking with fear. "Who are you?" stammered the young witch, she couldn't have been more than twenty-five years old. She practically has her life ahead of her. I came to her, she looked away from me and looked at the ground. I placed my bloody fingers under her chin and lifted her head to look up at me. "Please don't kill me."
I caressed her cheek. "I'm not the kind of monster to kill innocents, and it's not your fault, right?" She shook her head. "Then you have nothing to worry about," I kissed her forehead and turned to the older witches who were kneeling on the ground. "For the rest of you..."
___
The last grave and the last witch.
Although I killed most of the witches, I buried them in their sacred place and let them rest. I bet most creatures that kill them won't. No wonder, witches are a pain in the ass.
I left the last buried witch alone and turned to the few surviving witches. I smiled at them and they nervously smiled back at me. I found out all the necessary information from them and offered them a normal life. And not only that, I offered them a university, a home, a job, but at the same time, I gave those who would like to practice magic further, so I gave them contact with good older witches.
Now it was just time to get these babies home.
"Who wants to see your new home?" I asked with a nice smile and got their attention. They got up from where they were sitting and followed me to my car.
As we got into the car, soft music played. I immediately recognized that it was my phone and picked it up to see who was calling me. Aunt Jen. I smiled and answered the call.
"Hi Jen," I replied, "not that I don't like hearing from you, but why are you calling me?" I asked curiously and closed the car door and sat in the driver's seat.
"Hi Cass. Do you know how to babysit two teens and keep up with college? Any advice?" she said a little faster.
"Just why would you babysit a teenagers?" I really didn't understand her question.
"Well Elena and Jeremy you know why-"
"Why on earth would you babysit my siblings?"
"Wait. You don't know?" I just let out a smaller 'What?' "A few months ago your parents were in a car accident...only Elena survived. Sorry, I thought someone told you."
"Wait what?! Is she fine? What about Jeremy?''
''Don't worry Jeremy is fine. He was home that night. And Elena is fine too, even though no one knows, how did she get out of that car,'' Jenna assured me. "I seriously thought at least those two told you."
"Yes... so no one called me, it doesn't matter," I sighed and processed the information I received.
"Everyone probably thought you didn't care when no one saw you at the funeral," Jen replied "You know the relationship you had with them, it probably didn't surprise anyone. But if I had known that no one had informed you at all, I would have called you earlier.''
"I know, Jenna, I know," I assured her, looking out the window at the setting sun. "I have a plane in a few hours, so I'll probably see you in the evening or in the morning, depending on how I can fly."
''Good. And I'm sorry. I will wait for you at the airport,'' she offered me.
''It's fine Jen, I'll manage somehow and don't tell the others it will be a surprise. You know me and the dramatic arrivals,'' I said calmly and smiled at the end.
"Ok I'll be waiting for you," she replied, "see you Cassie."
"Bye Jen," I said and I looked at the black screen of the phone.
"Are there any problems?" the brave witch asked me.
I shook my head. "Looks like they're expecting me too," I turned my head to her and assured her as I smiled at her. "Let's take you home."
With this sentence, I started the car and drove towards civilization, where I gave the young people a new start on their new adventure.
While one European adventure is coming to an end, a new one awaits me.
If only I knew how big this adventure would be
and how it changes everything.
