I got up before dawn and started my next day. I had to leave the house in the morning dark. I wanted to look at Vicky's body. What I saw was not normal and I knew why. Her soul was dead long ago. Police and people will see a corpse with normal human death, but to me. I see something that is end to everything.

But back to the present, I've already returned from the expedition and I'm in the kitchen cooking breakfast. I hear the house waking up and getting ready for school. Gradually they came downstairs, where I served them food. Elena left earlier. Jenna ran after her to pass her a forgotten notebook on the table. I heard the door open and. "Elena," a person greeted.

''Uncle John. Hi,"Elena replied. Oh well, another presence that is not welcome here.

"Jenna," He greeted Aunt Jenna.

''John. You made it," Jenna commented.

"I said I'd be in by noon."

"What you say and what you do are typically two very different things."

I turned to Jeremy sitting next to me. He looked at me confused until I placed the plate on the counter and made my way to the door. At that moment, he ran in front of me to block me. "Uncle John, what's up?" he started the conversation so I wouldn't get the words out.

"Hey," John greeted him back. ''I had some business in town. I thought a visit was in order.''

Elena asked politely, "How long are you staying?''

"I don't know yet."

I pushed between the wall and Jeremy, who was trying to pull me back. "Hey John."

"Cassie, what a nice surprise. I thought you were in Europe," he asked uncomfortably.

"Oh I was, but I arrived a some weeks ago. You know, for a visit,'' I grinned at him and leaned against the wall. ''What about you? What does it look like, how long will you stay?''

He rubbed his hands. "Hm ... let's hope it's as I expected. Just for a while.''

"I hope so," I told him. "Don't keep them here anyway. They have to go to school, you know because they're responsible, unlike someone else,'' I smiled sweetly at him at the end of the sentence. I handed Jeremy the backpack and waved at them. I didn't miss the looks they sent each other when Jenna closed the door.

Now it's just the three of us. Adults. I mean, mostly, I don't think either of us behaves like that sometimes. Jenna and John had a very pleasant conversation. "Can't you at least pretend that you're happy to see me?"

I laughed. "I'm sorry, John, but no one would be able to pretend this,'' I grinned and took my things. "As much as I would like to be here and enjoy your wonderful company. I have to be somewhere."
