Cassandra POV
I was sitting outside on a bench. A gentle wind blew on me, blowing my thick, black hair. The sun's rays warmed me and despite the noise of the surroundings I enjoyed a peaceful moment. I thought about everything possible.
Coming to Mystic Falls, coming back here, changed me and my life. Before, I didn't care about what was and what will be. I lived in the moment from day to day, and now? Now that's complicated.
Of course, I'm the type of person who makes the complicated more complicated. To be precise - chaos.
Although... the last few days I have been thinking about what was in the letter. Letter from John. He definitely surprised me with what he knew and what he found out. That information didn't change my current plan or help me, but it might come in handy.
I repeat the words from the letter in my head.
Cassandra,
I honestly don't know how to write you this letter. I know you wanted to burn it as soon as you got your hands on it, but if you're reading this, you did it differently and you won't regret it. I couldn't help but notice your keen interest in the supernatural since childhood - one subject in particular. Gemini coven. I don't know what you're going to do with it, but I got some research and information. I left everything for you in a secret stash under the parquet floors.
I can't tell you how sorry I am or make it up to you, trying to kill you should never have crossed my mind. Sorry, that's all I can say, write and do.
John
Honestly, I would like to believe him, believe his words, but in the end it was his actions that made me not leave him. What he did is nothing unforgivable, it's just not worth it.
I was pulled from my thoughts by approaching footsteps. I looked up and my eyes met those dark brown hazel eyes. Familiar eyes.
"Aren't you eating with the others?" I asked curiously.
Elijah shook his head. "I don't need, I rather thought you would be hungry."
I smiled. "You thought well. Where do we want to go?''
"You choose."
I was thinking and I thought of one thing. "Speaking of the foods you haven't tried, have you ever had Chinese food?"
He sighed and mumbled. "I should have stayed with them."
''What did you say?''
''Nothing. Just that we should go.''
___
"Fine, I give up... what's wrong with you?" Elijah stopped and turned to me. "And don't even think of making excuses or talking about another topic."
I looked at him in surprise, he had never talked to me so openly. I smirked, shrugged, and a small laugh escaped my lips. "Besides your brother being an idiot? Nothing much...''
I saw him shake his head at me and smile. "I am well aware that sometimes Niklaus is an idiot."
''Sometimes?''
"Okay, almost all the time..." he admitted and we laughed. After a while the laughter died down and we walked on in silence. We continued our journey into the unknown. We had already eaten and his reaction was quite positive. He says he doesn't like it, liar.
On the way to the bar we purposely strayed away from the path, or rather Elijah. It looks like he did it to question me. We walked side by side with one hand linked and holding each other and the other in the pocket. A friendly, reassuring gesture. I breathed fresh air and had a moment of silence. Maybe I missed it a bit. I only heard him whisper into the wind: "Just know that I'm here for you."
