Thana POV
My outfit
"Should I even ask?" I raised my eyebrows and looked at Niklaus, who was smiling behind the wheel.
"Wait a minute and see," he looked at me with a smirk before his gaze returned to the road.
Of course I didn't like his answer so I rolled my eyes and let it go. If he wants to keep a secret, let him keep it, I have a secret of my own. He must have sensed the change in mood in the car because he took my hand and kissed the back of it.
''You'll like it, you'll see,'' he smiled at me and started making soothing circles on my hand with his thumb.
I unconsciously smiled at the gesture. I left my hand where it was and concentrated on the road. We already got out of the city and turned somewhere into nature. In no time we entered the forest before the house appeared in front of us, at which we stopped.
Niklaus opened the door and offered me his hand. He led me to the back yard and what I saw surprised me quite a bit. There were about two dozen people, werewolves. Women, men and small children. I looked curiously at NIklaus, who was standing next to me and was waving to someone I didn't know.
''Who are they? What are they doing here?''
He smiled at me and hugged me from the side, placing his palm on my waist. "My love, this is my pack and their family. I turned the werewolves who signed up voluntarily and those who were not allowed by the Alpha, I challenged them to a duel and I won. Anyone who wants is a hybrid, the others are here under my protection. Here they have food, housing and many things they would need for a comfortable life,'' he explained as he pointed around the premises. "Mostly they have freedom during the full moon, it's far from civilization and it's safe."
He smiled at me. And he just looked at me like he was waiting for me to say something. I honestly didn't expect this, I didn't expect him to take my words to heart. I looked away from him and looked around. There was peace.
The children laughed and played with a ball, or chased each other through the forest. The women were talking to each other or tending to the garden. The men were standing off to the side building something and discussing something with a woman, most likely in charge. There was also a group practicing combat moves in the meadow. It was strange to watch.
I saw a few glances stop at Niklaus. Normally, people who knew who it was would run away or tremble in fear, but they didn't. They smiled at him and nodded, which he returned. "You really are their leader, their Alpha," I smiled at him and he nodded his head. ''It's beautiful what you've created. I'm proud of you for treating them as equals. I'm proud of you, of who you've become... It would be a shame if you remained an idiot''
