CHAPTER 39

"Love.."

The moment I heard his voice, I almost break down. It felt so weak.

I have to atleast be strong for him. Para may makapitan siya kahit papaano. Nasa kabilang k'warto si Tita dahil nag-collapse ito matapos makita si Jake. He literally looked so weak, maraming mga wires and nakakabit sa kaniya at pilit na rin ang paghinga at pagsasalita niya

"Love.. hang in there. Everything will be fine, please?" nangingilid ang mga luha na sabi ko. I was holding his hand and I won't let this go

"I-I'm sorry... f-for a-always being the o-one who's w-weak"

"You don't have to say sorry for that, love. Just survive, hmm? I know you can do this"

"I-I've been t-through a l-lot, love..."

Hindi ko na napigilang hindi mapaiyak ng sabihin niya 'yon. Alam ko at tama siya. Simula bata pa lang ay sobrang dami ng pagsubok ang kinailangan niyang kaharapin at hanggang ngayon ay gan'on pa rin

"I know, love. That's why, I also know that you'll survive this one, mmm?"

"I c-can't even t-talk p-properly" mahina pa siyang tumawa na akala mo'y hindi seryoso ang kalagayan niya

He held my hand so tight. I felt his warm once again. I wish I'll still can feel this after this. If only I can also control lives, I will. I won't hesitate to have that mission if I can

"Love.. I'm so sorry for leaving you there. It was the least I can do but I still chose to leave and get that criminal. I'm so sor–"

Natigilan ako ng mas higpitan niya pa ang hawak sa kamay ko. Mabilis na napatingin ako sa kaniya kahit malabo pa ang mga mata ko sa kaiiyak

"I-It's fine, l-love. W-What important i-is t-that you're s-safe. You came back, alive, for me. T-that's enough, Rhaine"

I have to inhale because I'm crying too hard. I saw tears fall from his eyes. What hurts the most is that I know he's crying because of me and not because of him

"I'll do everything, Jake. I'll take you out of here. Alive. Just.. hold on, okay?"

Tumango lang siya at hindi na nagsalita. I was thinking so hard why is Tito Millio taking so long to solve this. I already called him and he told me he'll send some doctors but they hasn't come yet

It was almost 4 when a bunch of people came to Jake's room. I was hesitant to gave them a pass but they showed me an ID and Tito Millio's name was on it so I have no choice but to step aside

Naramdaman ko ang kamay ni Jake sa pulso ko, "I-I l-love you, Rhaine" that's the only thing he said before I leave the room

Nasa labas na sila Karia at Seline. They held me in their arms while Alex was in the other room with Tita who's still unconscious. It might be because of hunger at sobrang antok dahil anong oras na rin

"Everything will be okay, right? Karia?" I was crying and begging them the whole time. They keep on calming me down but I just can't

"Look, Rhaine, they already told you what might possibly happen. But still, if ever happened, bad or good, we'll be here"

"He won't die, Karia! He told me.. he loves me!" napalakas ang sigaw ko kaya kinailangan nilang hawakan ang bibig ko

"You have to calm down. Screaming won't help with his operation"
