When Mark and I walked into Reese’s room, she was fast asleep with her phone in her hand.
“Well isn’t that just adorable?” Mark said, in a mocking tone.
I grunted and took her phone softly out of her hand and placed it on the side, pulling the blanket up over her stomach.
“Why do you do that? She was obviously comfortable otherwise she wouldn’t have fallen asleep.” Mark asked me.
I stopped and looked at him, “Because I care about her, Mark.”
He rolled his eyes and went closer to her, kissing her on the lips. “See, I care about her too.”
I grunted again and left the room, keeping the door slightly open just in case he decided to jump on her.
My phone was ringing and the screen flashed with Perrie’s name.
“Hey, Perrie.”
“Liam! Where are you?”
“In the hospital…”
“What?! We’ve been freaking out looking for you! Urgh! That bloody Mark!”
“I know, he’s a right twithead. What did he do?”
“He told El that he’d text us when he found you, obviously he didn’t.”
“Yeah… well, no surprises there.”
“Hmm, anyway. We’ll be there in five.”
“Cool.”
She hung up and I slid my phone in my pocket, I saw a pool of coffee lying on the floor where I’d dropped it earlier. A cleaning lady was coming up the hallway to mop it up, she looked annoyed and moody.
I don’t blame her.
She took out her mop and started to clean when I took it from her.
“Hey! Give it back!” Her croaky voice shouted, scowling up at me.
“This was my fault, Ma’am. I thought I’d clear it up for you.”
Her expression changed as she looked at me, “No, that’s lovely son but I can’t. If they see me through the CCTV cameras watching you do my work they’ll fire me! I need this job!”
“Okay, are you sure? I feel bad.”
She smiled, “This world needs more kids like you.”
I smiled at this and sauntered back into Reese’s room. Mark was sitting on one of the chairs on his phone.
“You’re so gay.” He stated, eyes not looking away from his screen.
I sighed and looked through the window at the wind softly blowing through the flowing branches on the willow tree.
“Excuse me.” Said Reese’s surgeon. She was the one that told me that Reese had made it through the operation.
Mine and Mark’s heads snapped in her direction.
“Yes?” Mark asked, putting on a flirty voice.
She frowned at his tone and turned to me.
“Reese Williams is going to be discharged from the hospital at around 4 o’clock tonight.” She smiled.
“Really?” I asked, standing up and coming closer to her. A warm smile spread across her face.
“Yes, she’s recovered really well. Although for about a week or so she can’t work or run or strain herself. Basically, once her stomach stops twitching her body should be ready to get back to normal.”
