Recap

Jessie glanced at me, “I’m really sorry, I thought they would take longer getting pissed. I thought we’d have time to escape. I’m so sorry, Liam. Just do everything I say, okay? If you do, we might just get out of here alive.”

Still 14th February

Valentines Day

My heart started beating erratically fast, but not with nerves, not with lust, nor with excitement.

I was scared.

What have I gotten myself into? Who are these people? Why do they want to take my life? How does Jessie know of such people? And where – for god’s sake – am I?!

“W-what?!” I hissed, the grass around my feet bending over backwards at the power of my breath. “Why did you lead me here? There’s no one around! Surely we could’ve gone somewhere where at least someone would see a bloody murder!” I started to freak out, I even contemplated getting up and running. After all I am pretty fast. Well I was – before I was a member of the biggest boy band in the world. Whoa, I still get shivers.

This is not the time, Liam!

“Shush, Liam! I’m sorry, okay? I took you here to show you the stars, it’s the most beautiful place I know and I thought someone like you could use something beautiful right now. Yes, I know about your thing with Reese. And yes, I know that you’re still in love with her. Harry told me. I wanted to get your mind off things, show you that there is still beauty in the world even when you can’t have the one person you love most..” She trailed off, gradually getting quieter as she went on.

I was speechless, I never would’ve thought that someone who looked so… rebellious,  could be so beautifully enticed with the world around her.

“I..I… I don’t know what to say… I guess a thank you is in order.” I blushed, even though she couldn’t see because of the darkness.

She laughed breathily, “Thank you? Liam, if this doesn’t go well this could be your last night alive.”

I sighed and looked around, “I guess so, but where would be a more beautiful place to die?”

She laughed quietly, “You’re deep.” She paused for a moment, closing her eyes and her voice started to break. “But to answer your question, anywhere where your ex fiancé wasn’t about to be the one who kills you.”

“Jessica! I can hear youuuuu!” The man shouted, his friend seemed to have passed out in the grass, beer bottle in hand.

I didn’t even flinch when he screamed her name, I was too busy drowning in my thoughts.

He used to be your fiancé?”

She nodded, “Right, enough of this. We need to get out of here. Especially you,  if you die the suicide rate for teenage girls is going to rise rapidly over the next few months. We can’t have that.”

I frowned, “You’ve gotta get out of here too. You’re just as important as me. Fame doesn’t change someone’s importance, it just means more people know of that person.” I explained, she nodded, her blue eyes darting around the field.

“Okay, his name is James. He may be drunk but he is fast and has a serious throwing arm. See that gap in the trees over there? If you get passed there you’re safe, a church backs onto it and my mum’s best friend is the priest. I have the back door key.”
