Reese’s P.O.V

I wait at the payphone for what seems like hours. Sitting on my old suitcase, listening to all the American people as they switch from conversation to conversation. I don’t know if anyone’s coming to get me, whether they want to come and get me.

I know they still like me, I just don’t know whether they think I still need help.

I’m better now, much better.

Recently I’ve been going to my doctor, and she’s told me that my stomach is completely back to normal, I just have a scar slightly above my belly button.

Over the past week I’ve been planning my escape. Earlier than 5am; before Mark would start to fidget and get up for a snack, but also later than 1am; Mark doesn’t go to bed until then.

Even though I hate him, and the power he had over me, I feel sort of lost without him. He was by my side whenever I went outside, he was my rock. Also when I was really ill, he was there.

Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t forgotten about his possessiveness and forceful behaviour. He was just there, all the time, and it’s weird not having that protection anymore.

Hopefully never again.

I sigh one last time, wondering whether I should try calling Zayn again.

I have no idea why, but out of everyone’s number, his is the only one I seem to remember. I get half way through Katie’s before my brain totally backfires.

It’s daytime in England now, I wonder what Mark’s doing. Is he coming after me?

Well I didn’t take my phone, because I couldn’t find it. So he can’t trace me.

A shiver runs down my spine as fear strikes my stomach. If he came to America, who knows what he’d do if he found me.

What he’d do to Liam.

Guns are allowed in America, aren’t they.

Shit.

While my thoughts are scaring the living daylight out of me, I don’t see Katie, Eleanor and Perrie climb out of a black land rover.

“Reese!” I hear someone cry, my heart jumps as my mind immediately pins it as Mark’s voice. But then I hear it again, and realise the pitch is way too high to be Mark.

I move my head to see a black haired girl, a brunette and a blonde running towards me. I immediately jump up from my suitcase.

Katie slams into me, wrapping her arms around my waist as she squeezes me. I cringe as it stings on my scar, but I don’t say anything. I’ve missed her too much.

“Oh my god, what are you doing here?!” She squeals into my ear, Perrie and Eleanor cuddling around us until I’m surrounded.

I feel like a ball of light has just exploded around me, I’m so happy. It’s been so long.

“I’m better.” I whisper as they unlatch themselves from me.

“Really?!” Perrie grins, smiling at a few people snapping pictures of us as they pass. Of course, the girlfriends’ reuniting. Well, the girlfriends’ and their friend.

"Yeah," I grinned, "My Doctor said my stomach is almost fully healed."

Eleanor's smile fell, "But what about your... you know, depression?"

I nodded, the same grin implanted in my features. "Almost gone. My anti-depressants have lowered a lot. I'm now only on one tablet a day."

"That's amazing." Katie gasped, "I'm so proud of you, we all are."

I could feel my cheeks turn a slight pink, "Could we stop with all this sappiness? You know I'm not one for touchy feely shit.." I murmured.

The girls all laughed, rolling their eyes. "Come on," Katie laughed, "Let's get you ready."

As we started to walk towards the car, it struck me. "Wait, what? Get me ready for what?" I opened the car door and slid onto the seat.

Eleanor started the engine, Perrie giggling from the front seat as she turned to look at me, "The boys have a red carpet event tonight, we're all going to support them. So are you."

My eyes widened, "W-what? B-but I haven't been in that kind of environment for ages!"

"Do you want to see Liam, or not?" Eleanor teased, looking at me through the rear view mirror. I felt the ever so missed butterflies emerge back into my stomach as excitement kicked in.

All the girls were staring at me with huge grins plastered on their faces. I felt my cheeks heat up again. "What did I tell you?" I chuckled, "I don't like all that sappiness."

They all giggled and turned away from me, staring out into the streets of Houston. I took in a deep breath, my hands shaking with both fear and happiness as I tried to contain it all.

I'm seeing Liam again.

Oh my god.
