The day after Valentines Day
Reese’s P.O.V
I awoke with the light streaming into my room, the sun blinding me as I tried to open my eyes. I felt an urge of happiness flow through me as I turned onto my right side, feeling around the mattress for the body I was looking for.
I sat up straight when I realised nobody was there, I looked around the room. The cream curtains were open and swaying lightly as the wind crept in through the slightly open window. I was momentarily confused, wondering why I thought he was here. Why I thought he was right next to me, helping me sleep.
Sleep.
“Sleep?!” I gasped, my voice cracking at the high pitched tone.
Mark barged into my room, looking rather worried.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
I smiled, it felt almost wrong for my muscles to do it. I hadn’t smiled in weeks. Mark grinned, letting in a happy breath of air.
“I slept.” I grinned, rubbing my feet together ever so softly. It was so warm and safe-feeling under the covers. I’d missed sleep.
I glanced over at Mark and he was walking over to me, he bent over and kissed me on the cheek, rubbing his nose lovingly in a circle before standing up again. “Well done, babe.”
I frowned at his actions, before all this happened I would’ve gone weak at the knees after he did something like that. I didn’t feel a thing.
“What changed?” He questioned, sitting on the side of my bed.
You know when people say they have mixed emotions about something? Or they’re torn? Well, that’s exactly how I feel. Last night, mine and Liam’s conversation was… not what I’d expected. I’d expected him to shout at me, or at least hang up as soon as he’d realised it was me.
He didn’t do that.
FLASHBACK
“Hello?”
“Liam?” I asked, my voice shaky.
He paused before stuttering my name, “R-reese?”
I sucked in a deep breath.
“Yeah… hi.”
“Who’s that?” said a voice in the background – a girl’s voice.
Liam was stuttering a bit, I cringed at the situation.
What am I doing? Of course he’s out with girls! He’s a freaking famous pop star! What was I thinking? That he’d be moping around his hotel room? Just waiting for me to call him, and then he’d come running back to me?
Okay, maybe a little.
“I-I’m sorry, I shouldn’t hav-have called. By-“
“-Wait.” Liam ordered, sounding very serious. “Reese, I’m sorry. I’m kind of hanging out with someone now, can I phone you back?” He asked.
I sighed, “Yeah, sur-sure.” I stuttered, taking the phone from my ear and pressing the red button. The phone made a very lonely beep before locking itself – the screen went black.
I groaned and threw the phone on the floor.
I’m such an idiot! Why did I call him? Because it was valentines day? Is that why? I don’t even know… I just remember standing up from my place on the bed, and shuffling towards my mobile. I didn’t even know what I was doing until Liam’s voice came in through the speaker.
