We sat in front of the TV, waiting for Beckman while he stitched up my foot. "Stay off of it." I saw him eyeing the blood on my face.

"It's not mine. Bit him pretty hard." I mumbled. My foot was still resting in his lap when Beckman finally appeared. She froze, taking in how bad I looked. "You should see the other guy." I sighed, not bothering to move my foot.

"He's been taken to the hospital. He was arrested by our people there and he's under guard now." She informed me. "Do you need medical attention Kat?" It was the concern for a friend, not just a subordinate.

"I escaped with only bruises. I'll live." I replied. "I just want to take a shower."

"You won't be able to see your sister until you're healed. If you do, you better be pretty well covered up." Casey warned.

"The bugs that you planted have given us some invaluable information about their operations. As for the other matter, you have immunity, so no action will be taken." She meant my killing an innocent man.

"Thank you General." I replied quietly.

"Get some rest Kat. You've earned it." With that she was gone and it was just me and Casey.

The rest of that night was spent with him taping me telling my story, and him taking pictures of my injuries. I think that was harder on him that it was on me, especially when he got to the bite mark on my back. By the time we were done, it was dawn. I leaned over on his shoulder as we sat on one of the beds in the med bay.

He'd helped me get cleaned up and now the only evidence of my rough night were the bruises on my body. "You really should try to get some sleep." He said quietly.

"I don't want to." I mumbled.

"I contacted Walker. She said she'd have Chuck give you a call." He told me as he wrapped a gentle arm around me. "You were generous, you know?" He said after a long silence. I could hear the barely masked anger in his voice.

"What do you mean?"

"I wouldn't have shot him in the leg." He replied.

"It was self-defense. I used the necessary force to stop him. A headshot would have been overkill." I could feel my eyes getting heavier.

"It would have been very satisfying."

"I don't disagree with that statement." I yawned, trying to get comfortable. "If I do go to sleep, will you stay with me?" I asked.

"Sure. Lie down. You'll be more comfortable." It wasn't a request. He helped me lie down on the bed and then he pulled a blanket over us. I curled up so that my face was buried in Casey's chest. While sleep did come, it was not peaceful. I was right back in that kitchen, getting slammed onto the table, only this time I was powerless to fight back.

Apparently I was squirming badly enough to wake him up because the next thing I knew was that Casey was calling my name and shaking me. Once I was awake, and sure of where I was, I realized that I had been crying. "You're safe Kat." Casey reassured.

"I know. That is one thing that I will never doubt when I'm with you." I replied quietly as I sat up. I heard my phone buzz, and looked to see who it was. "It's Chuck. He wants to face time."

"Here." Casey took my phone and accepted the call.

"Where's my sister?" Chuck asked.

"You need to know that she's pretty banged up. She's fine." Casey explained.

"I understand. Can I talk to Kat now?"

"Hi Chuck." I took the phone back.

"How do you feel?" He asked quietly.
