Waking up the next morning was a challenge. The alarm went off and I was very much not ready. Ellie and Awesome were already at work, and Chuck was getting ready to leave when I came out to take a shower. "Are you okay by yourself?" He asked, putting on his shoes.
"Yeah, I'm good. I promise I can take care of myself." I smiled, "Have a good day at work. I'll see you later." I called, heading into the bathroom. I closed the door and stripped down before getting into the shower. When I was done I dried off and went to get dressed. By the time Casey knocked on the door at nine, I was dressed in a flowy red skirt with a black top, black flats, and minimal makeup.
He was holding a coffee cup out to me, "One non-regulation girly crap." I took it, and took a
slow sip of it. It was a tall mocha latte with two shots of espresso and whipped cream. "God bless you John Casey." I couldn't help but smile at him. "I can't believe that you remember my coffee order after all this time.""A spy never gives up his trade secrets." He replied before leading me out to his car. It was an old Crown Victoria.
“You still have this thing?” I asked, getting in. I balanced my coffee on the dashboard while I buckled up. “I thought this was just for a cover.” I teased lightly, taking another sip of my coffee.
“This isn’t technically the same car. Your brother blew up the one I’ve had since we had that job. I’ve made several modifications to it though.” He grinned. “It even has a missile in it.” I could tell that he wasn’t even kidding.
“That’s perfect for you.” I laughed, “Can I ask how Chuck blew up the last Crown Vic?” I asked, looking over at him as we pulled onto the highway.
“Long story short, there was a missile pointed at our location, and he changed the location so that it would hit my car instead of the boat we were on.” Casey explained, glancing over at me.
“I’m sorry.” I frowned. “I know there was some emotional attachment.” I said quietly. “Wait, are we going to the Buy More?” I asked, seeing it appear in the distance.
“Castle had to be close so that Chuck’s disappearances weren’t that noticeable.” He shrugged as we pulled into the parking lot near the Orange Orange. “Walker’s waiting until we’re done with Beckman to go get Chuck.”
“I hope he doesn’t take this badly.” I mumbled, finishing my coffee. We got out of the car and walked into the frozen yogurt shop and back towards the freezer. I diverted my eyes while he punched in the code and used the scanner.
“Welcome to Castle.” He said as we walked downstairs.
“Nice digs.” I said, slightly awed.
“Since this became a long term op, we got more money for a better base.” He said, as we walked into the main area. “You should see the armory.” He sounded like a kid at Christmas.
“You’ll have to give me the tour later.” I said just as the screen flipped on.
“Agent Bartowski, it’s nice to see you again. How was Prague?” She asked with a smile. She and I have been good friends for several years. She’s my boss, but she’s also a mentor and friend.
“General, it’s good to see you too. Prague was good. Challenging, but good.” I smiled. “When I’m back in town, we should have dinner some night.” I suggested, leaning back against the table.
“That might be a little longer than you think.” She replied.
“Oh?”
“Major Casey, how do you feel about working with your old partner?” She asked, shifting focus.
