The next day did not go well. Chuck managed to get into the house and find out what they were hiding. But what was worse, the whole neighborhood was part of the Ring and they trapped all of us. They stuck Casey and me in a room together. Once we were alone, Casey looked over at me and asked, "Ready?"

"Been ready." I replied. I went silent as I applied torsion to my thumb and waited to hear it pop. I slipped one hand out of the cuffs and stood up. "Let's go find my brother." We found him and Sarah in a room with the Ring scientists. They had just ran an Intersect test on him, and he passed. They were about to do it to Sarah.

"Put these on." Casey whispered as he passed me some glasses. Chuck grabbed Sarah and buried her face in his chest as the Ring agents fell to the floor. When the test was done I took the glasses off and went to check on them.

"Are you guys okay?" I asked, cradling my hand.

"Yeah. How's the hand? What did you do?" Chuck asked.

"Not anything I haven't dealt with before. I just had to break my thumb to get out of the cuffs." I explained.

"Let's get out of here." Casey grunted, coming up behind me, also cradling his hand. We left the facility and drove back to Castle.

"Are you okay?" I asked as Casey and I rode back together.

"Yeah. I'll bandage your hand when we get back to base." He replied.

"Right back at you." I said quietly.

Our briefing with General Beckman was quick. We were going to have to be careful with Chuck for now and if we had to, he'd have to be put into protective custody. When we made it back to the apartments, there were four suitcases sitting inside my front door. "Is that all yours?" Casey asked, looking down at the luggage.

"Maybe." I said quietly. "Can we order dinner and sleep?" I asked, laying down on the couch.

"Chinese okay?" He asked.

"Definitely." I moved for him to sit down next to me. I leaned over on his shoulder. "Want a drink?" I asked.

"You're not supposed to drink with the pain meds for your hand, and neither am I." He reminded me.

"I think there are drinks of the non-alcoholic variety." I teased, trying not to yawn. We both ended up falling asleep on the couch and I didn't wake up until it was pitch dark and the middle of the night. "John, wake up." I nudged his shoulder gently.

"What?" He bolted upright, nearly knocking me over.

"Relax. We fell asleep on the couch. Come on, let's go to bed."

He grunted his agreement and got up. I followed him back and stripped before getting into bed. It didn't take much to fall back asleep once we were both back in bed.

A few weeks later we called into Castle for another mission briefing. We had to get a chip from a suspected Ring agent. We decided that Sarah would seduce him and get it. "Why can't Kat do it?" Chuck protested.

"What's the matter? Don't like the idea of your woman getting it on with someone else?" Casey asked.

"Apparently he likes the idea of his sister seducing someone more... I can't decide which is creepier." I mused.

"It's creepier that he'd rather listen to you." Casey replied. "Be ready to go at six." He told
everyone.

"Get back to work; I'm going to stay here and see if I can get any more info on the target." I told Chuck and Casey, because Sarah was already going back upstairs.
