We all fell asleep on the couch that night, leaning against each other. In the morning Devon woke us up. “Babe, you’re going to be late for work if you don’t get up.” He said, shaking Ellie gently. “Chuck, you too.” Chuck jumped, which ended up waking me up.

“I can’t believe we slept out here.” I mumbled, sitting up. “I’ll make coffee while you guys get ready.” I yawned and walked into the bedroom to get my phone before going out into the kitchen to make the promised coffee. I had a message from Casey, asking me to call him as soon as possible. “Good morning.” I yawned into the phone when he picked up.

“You alright? You sound like you didn’t sleep at all.” He asked.

“I’m good. Chuck, Ellie, and I ended up sleeping on the couch last night.”

"That couldn't have been comfortable." He replied.

"My back is loudly protesting." I groaned, starting the coffee. "What did you need?" I yawned, leaning against the counter.

"We have a mission. Our briefing is in an hour." Casey informed me. "I'll meet you outside in
forty-five so we can be on time." It wasn't a question.

"You're driving." I said before hanging up. I walked back to the bathroom and knocked on the door. "Can I come in?"

"I'm decent!" Chuck called.

I opened the door and stepped inside before closing it behind me. "We have a mission. Briefing in an hour." I told him.

"Sounds good. I'll get out." Once he was gone, I stripped and got in the shower, letting the hot water relax my muscles. I was quick, wanting to be on time. I got out of the shower, dried off, and dried my hair before putting it up. I ran back to my room to get dressed. "I'm ready for the rest of
my clothes to get here." I mumbled, pulling on jeans and a shirt. By the time I made it into the courtyard, Casey was sitting on the fountain, holding a traveler's mug.

"Here." He held it out to me, and I took it. I could feel the warmth and it made me smile.

"You are a saint John Casey." I said quietly as we got into the car.

"I try." He said, starting the car. We drove in relative, but comfortable silence. I finished the coffee by the time we arrived, so my spirits were a little brighter than they had been when we left. Sarah and Chuck were waiting for us when we got down into Castle.

"Good morning." I smiled at Sarah and sat down next to my brother at the table. She smiled, but didn't really say anything else in return. Casey sat across from me and we waited for General Beckman to give us our mission.

We weren't waiting long before our screens popped on, "Good morning team. I'm sorry if your Valentine's Day plans have been ruined, but we have some intel on the Ring. Chuck and Sarah, you're going to the suburbs. We think one of your new neighbors is a terrorist." She turned to Casey and me, "Major Casey, you and Kat will be the support team."

"Yes General." I nodded.

"I'm sending you the details now. Good luck team." Just like that, the screen went dark.

"It's Valentine's Day?" I asked, looking around. "Time flies." I shrugged and got up and
followed Casey back to the armory to stock up on weapons that we might need. We had the duffel bags packed and headed out.

"Do you have plans tonight?" Casey asked once we were in the car alone. "We'll actually get to go home once we leave them in the house." He said.

"I don't have plans. I didn't know what today was. Did you have something in mind?" I asked. Now that I knew what day it was, I really didn't want to be in the apartment with Devon and Ellie.
