"Oh, shit!" All eyes turned to Carter, Pietro hid a laugh behind a cough, and Wanda rolled her eyes.
"Yes, and you know, it came at a great personal cost..." The Aussie spoke up again, itching a scar on the back of his neck, "It is worth billions," He finished, eyeing Ultron.
The bot glanced at him and tipped his head back. After a few moments with his eyes closed, he spoke.
"And now...so are you," He finished, Carter zoned out, focussing on reeling her powers in and out.
Try identifying the people around us, how many do you feel? Wanda called through her mind, releasing her hand and giving her sole access to her abilities.
She nodded discreetly, looking around and identifying the visible crew- before closing her eyes and finding them with her powers.
She noted the five in the main room, including the Aussie, She couldn't feel Ultron, but she knew where he was standing.
Then she let her abilities extend a bit further. A few crew on the upper level made her twitch, but she did her best to ignore what they felt, letting her powers roam even further. She gasped, finding something familiar amongst the new-
Wanda's hand gripped hers, and her eyes opened to see the Aussie's arm burned off, Ultron standing over him.
"I'm sorry, oh, I'm sorry...I'm sure that'll be okay...I'm sorry,"
He shook his head, "It's just that, I don't understand. Don't compare me to Stark!" He kicks the Aussie down a set of stairs, his rage growing visibly."It's a thing with me. Stark is..." He searched for the words, "...He's a sickness!"
"Ah, Junior, you're gonna break your old man's heart,"
Carter's heart stopped at a new voice and the familiar sound of thrusters approaching behind them.
Tony
They turned to find him, Thor, and Steve standing in a perfect trio.
"If I have to..." Ultron said, replying to Tony's quip.
Steve locked eyes with her, and she felt a twinge of pain and longing hit her.
And then an overwhelming wave of spite flooded into her, and she turned to meet Wanda's worried frown.
I would not have you fight them, Pietro can find you a safe place to hide until this is all over.
"No one has to break anything," Thor offered.
"Clearly, you've never made an Omelet," Ultron joked, sounding a lot like Tony.
Just to prove it, Tony said "He beat me by one second,"
"Maximoff, let Carter go, she should never have been a part of this," Steve called from where he stood, eyes still locked on Carter.
She could feel his fear, mixed with slight relief, and she knew Wanda felt it too.
"And of course, you know what she should and shouldn't do, don't you?" Pietro spoke up, surprising all of them.
He smirked at Steve, "The Captain, barking orders, suppressing her powers, controlling her just like H.Y.D.R.A. did..." Pietro looked to Wanda.
She gazed down at Carter while their eyes glowed brightly, "She has accomplished so much with her freedom, it's a shame you will not get to see it," she finished, pushing Carter away as Pietro ran to meet them.
In a split second, he'd carried her outside, and broke open an empty container for her to hide in.
"We will be back for you..." He trailed off, looking conflicted, "...Wanda is right, you have accomplished so much..." He added, gently squeezing her shoulder with his large hand.
