The room let out a big sigh, releasing the breath they'd been collectively holding.

Everyone gave silent cheers, and Peter was happy to see that some people regarded Carter with silent thumbs-ups and encouragements.

She squirmed under their attention, but offered polite smiles in return, even if they were a tad awkward.

Ms. Sinclair and the principal entered the room again, and he called her up to the front, probably hoping for some semblance of privacy.

They got none as the entire class watched Ms. Sinclair apologize to Carter for her behavior, and return her device.

Peter saw Carter's shoulders sag ever-so-slightly as soon as she placed it on her ear, finally able to relax without worrying about her abilities.

"Thank you, Ms. Sinclair, I appreciate the thought behind this," Carter started before turning to their principal, "However, I think that it'd be best for everybody if I was removed from this class," She said, shocking everyone.

Ms. Sinclair seethed with a fake smile on her face, looking like she wanted to rip Carter a new one. Luckily the Principal intervened before she could.

"Very well, Miss Rogers. It's my understanding that you have a full schedule, I could have your counselor change this to a free period," He offered, ushering her closer to the door and away from the teacher, who immediately jumped into her lesson for that day.

Carter frowned, "If I wanted to keep this class but move to a different teacher, would my entire schedule change?" She asked, glancing towards Peter, who was making a piss-poor attempt at hiding the fact that he was watching them.

"Yes, I'm afraid so," The man answered, "It was my understanding that your...guardian, requested the schedule you have quite specifically, and due to your extensive education I doubt you need the credits this class offers," He reasoned, smirking at her.

Carter nodded, "What would I do during my free period?" She asked.

"You'd be free to spend it in either the library or your homeroom, if your teacher is willing," He answered kindly.

Her nose scrunched, "What's my homeroom?"

He smiled, "It's just your first-period class, and who you'll be assigned to for assembly and outside drills,"

Carter nodded in understanding, making a mental note to ask Peter about what outside drills they had to do later on.

"And if I have another...issue?" She asked, glancing back to Ms. Sinclair.

"Come to my office immediately, and we will deal with the issue as you see fit," He offered simply.

She smiled, deciding she liked the guy.

"Would I be able to take the day to decide? Get to know the other teachers a bit?" She asked, sticking her hands in the pockets of her shorts.

"Of course, for today, you're free to spend the rest of this period in the Library and then at the end of the day simply come to the front office to give me your answer so we can make any necessary changes for tomorrow," He offered Ms. Sinclair a wave, turning towards the door, "Have a good day, Miss Rogers,"

Carter waved and watched him exit before awkwardly walking to her shared desk with Ned and Peter and grabbing her things.

"Where are you spending the class?" Peter muttered, keeping his eyes to the front, knowing she could read his lips.

"Library-"

"I can come get you at the end of the period," He said, copying down the notes, "You know...so you don't get lost..." He added, finally glancing at her.
