She didn't see the wave, only felt it as a warmth washed over her and she could feel something tug in the back of her mind.
Hello
She called in her mind, sending her power with the word in hopes the connection would be stronger this time.
Um...hi...
She almost chuckled at the awkward reply.
Who are you?
She asked, waiting expectantly for the reply as well as ignoring her brother, who had noticed the red glow in her eyes.
"Is the voice back?" He asked excitedly. She shush him as she felt another tug and she closed her eyes.
My name is Carter...who are you?
The woman noted how young she sounded- also noting the feminine lilt it held. She closed her eyes and focused harder on the girl, only to gasp at a the feeling of exhaustion that overwhelmed her.
Her eyes snapped open once more, and Pietro was beside her immediately.
"Are you okay?" He spoke quietly, not to alert the others.
She nodded as the feeling dissipated.
But before she could reply to the voice, she spotted movement on one of the security monitors nearby.
"...the Avengers..." Wanda felt the rage build in her, and she shared a look with her twin.
And suddenly, the presence at the back of her mind dissapeared, taking the vague feeling of recognition and confusion with it.
"It's gone," She told Pietro, adding, "And her name is Carter..." Her voice sounded cautious, but curious.
Pietro didn't acknowledge his sister, they instead listened to Strucker's whispering.
"He thinks we're not ready..." Wanda informed her brother him. Pietro sent his sister a smirk, and they vanished.

A bright light filled the room, casting the light of sunrise on Carter's face as J.A.R.V.I.S. pulled the automatic sunrise curtains away- effectively deactivating Nightlight Protocol.
"Good morning, J.A.R.V.I.S., are they back yet?" Carter called, opening her eyes and looking to her computer screen accross the room.
[I'm afraid not, Miss. Rogers. But they are on their way. I am to inform you that Helen Cho will be arriving shortly.]
Carter sat up and let a smile form on her face.
"Thank you, J.A.R.V.I.S., is Maria here?" She asked, rising to get changed for the day.
[Yes, she arrived ten minutes ago.】
Carter thought it was odd that Maria hadn't thought to wake her up, they usually spent the mornings training when she wasn't busy. She taught her basic S.H.E.I.L.D. tactics- which the team thought would be necessary if anyone from H.Y.D.R.A. came knocking.
So the girl opted for a soft pair of black leggings and a plain blue tank top, slipping on her sketchers before she made her way out the door.
She found Maria in her office, scrolling through digital files and transferring them to her tablet.
"Morning," Carter spoke after knocking on the open door to let her know she was there.
Maria barely looked up, simply offering her a smile and a quick "Morning".
It's not like they were close, not as close as she was to the Avengers, but even with their minimal interaction the girl expected more of an acknowledgement.
