People rushed around, switching monitors from camera to camera.

Not a single person took their eyes off the truck as it was escorted into the base.

Carter locked eyes with Tony, who was on the phone in another room. She watched him stutter at her glare, and then he averted his gaze.

A hand covered hers, stopping the pen from jumping off the table.
"Sorry," Carter breathed, "Noise complaints?" she asked, glancing around at the agents surrounding the room. She was sat at a small desk where everyone- aka Tony and Nat -could keep an eye on her while still being able to observe the interrogation and communicate with authorities.
Nat shook her head, "Just thought you'd wanna say hi," She said, gesturing towards the hallway.
The girl must've gotten whiplash from how fast she turned around in her seat. She spotted Sam and Steve walking down the hall and she was out of her chair in a heartbeat. She felt Natasha behind her, obviously keeping close so no one would bother her or think she was making a break for it.
Steve spotted her just before she reached them, having a mere second to prepare for her assault. Just as she was about to tackle him, she was stopped by Nat's firm hand on her shoulder, giving a tight squeeze to inform her that their usual greetings wouldn't be widely accepted in the present company.
Carter was forced to hug Steve awkwardly, but she felt him hug her a little tighter than usual.
In return, when she let go she threw a hard elbow into his ribcage.
"That's for getting arrested " She signed, moving to walk by his side.
"For the record, this is what making things worse looks like," Nat scolded Steve, watching for a reaction.
He didn't face her, "He's alive," he said.
"Try not to break anything while we fix this," Nat ordered them as they approached Tony, who was still on the phone.
"Consequences, oh you bet there'll be consequences..." He was saying, walking down a few steps towards them, "Obviously you can quote me on that 'cause I just said it, anything else?" He paused, listening, "Thank you, sir."
"Consequences?" Steve quoted.
Tony looked at Carter, "Who let you wander from your desk?" He joked, shrugging and turning back to the men, "Secretary Ross wants you both prosecuted, I had to give him something,"
"I'm not getting that shield back, am I?" Steve asked.
Nat gestured for Carter to follow them, "Technically it's the government's property, wings too," She directed the last part towards Sam, but Carter didn't catch his response in time.
Stupid E.A.R.S.
Stupid Lip-Reading
It was probably funny too-Tony flicked Carter on the shoulder to get her attention.
"You're scowling again..." He joked.
She only glared at him.
She sat at her desk again, watching her dad in the all-glass office they put him in.
She watched his movements, she watched his body language. She searched for any hint of remorse. Even after Tony went in to try and convince him to sign the accords, one last time, to fix the mess he'd made.
