Peter's head snapped forward when they stopped in front of the hotel, watching Happy unbuckle and step outside before finally looking at the girl again.

Carter Rogers...

He couldn't believe it.

She was still unconscious, having passed out or fallen asleep...he couldn't be sure. She went under just as Happy came out to the tarmac. He'd offered to carry her to the car once Happy had told him the plan and they'd maneuvered her into the passenger seat, putting the back down so she wouldn't be jostled much when they turned.

The passenger side door opened, and Happy threw a blanket over her.

"We're not leaving her here, are we?" Peter asked, finally moving to get out of the car.

"Of course not," The perpetually-grumpy bodyguard answered, "But her suit would draw too much attention..." he gestured for Peter to pick her up so they could head back to the rooms they'd stayed in the night before.

Peter nodded, realizing that she didn't have clothes to throw over her suit like he did- not that it would make much difference since she was...well...asleep.

Slowly, and gently, he removed her from the car and followed Happy up the steps and into the elevator. They got a few strange looks when they first entered, and Peter wondered if anyone would question them. But, as though it were planned, Carter shifted in his arms and tucked herself further into him and any and all tensions were eased. They even received a few smiles before Happy urgently ushered them to the elevators.

"We have four hours until we have to catch the jet, so pack up, and let's just hope she wakes up before we have to do the whole airport fiasco," Happy rushed out as they neared their floor.

Peter frowned, "Hey, uh...where should I put her?" He asked, following him out of the elevator.

"Where do you think you put her? On the bed, genius. I'll be there in ten to keep an eye on her, I just have to grab my stuff," He quipped, unlocking Peter's room and holding the door open for him to enter.

The next couple of hours passed uneventfully. They packed, and Carter rested. Peter watched a movie he found on stars called "Predator", and Carter rested. Happy dozed off on the couch, and Carter, well...rested.

It was as the credits were rolling that Peter felt it. His heart rate spiked, and he blinked as his eyes focused in and out. He snapped up from the floor, tapping Happy on the shoulder.

"What...What? What. What do you-"

"Shh." Peter held a finger out towards Happy, looking around the room. Goosebumps peppered his skin and a chill climbed up his spine.

A gasp was heard across the room, and just as they finally realized what was happening and Happy stood, a wave of brilliant bright light rushed towards them, and they had to brace themselves against its force.

"Peter we-" Happy started, but Peter was already on the move.

He hopped over the furniture and made it to her side just as her eyes snapped open, swirling around the room frantically as if they were searching for something. Her breathing was rapid, and Peter steeled himself for the briefest of moments before he gripped her hand.

Fear...

Sadness...

Anger...so so so much Anger...

He tried to fight them, thinking calming thoughts as he watched her come to. She registered his hand first, instinctually closing on it like a vice.

Peter was grateful he had done this and not Happy. If there was any question as to whether or not she inherited some super serum, he could put all of those questions to rest.
