Killian Jones, feared pirate Captain of the Jolly Roger and an iconic figure in children's fiction, had always been able to boast self-confidence and an avid knowledge for what he wanted. Ever since he had been a lad- long before his days as the infamous Captain Hook- he had had complete control over his life (other than losing Milah and his hand) and hardly any task seemed impossible.

Though now, as the pirate currently walked the windy streets of Storybrooke he couldn't state that this was the case anymore. . . For nearly four months, Hook had been a stranger to himself, and it had taken its toll. Where Killian was usually chipper and snarky, he now was quiet and seemed tired. Sure, he could still keep up in a good verbal battle (or actual battle when it was required) but deep down he wasn't in tune with his inner spark and it was starting to destroy him.

Killian now moved purposefully past the shops on Main Street, and strode towards Granny's diner without paying attention to his steps or surroundings. He knew the way by heart now, so there was no need to indulge in such time-wasting details.

As he grew closer and closer to Granny's the pirate let his mind wander back to the problem that currently had him cornered. To be perfectly honest, the reason for this disturbance of self was actually rather singular- a fact that made even less sense to the conflicted pirate- and yet the simplest of things turned out to have the hardest of solutions to carry out.

It had all started when Killian had met (Full name); some four months prior. She had started working as a waitress for the Rabbit Hole at that time (a bar that the pirate frequented quite often for his rum) and he had fast become friends with the sincere woman. For Killian this wasn't overly surprising; he always was friendly to women who crossed his path. Though this time had been different. . . As the days passed and he found himself spending more and more time away from the Rabbit Hole with the happy waitress, he found that it was more than the normal amount of attention he gave to one such as (F/n). Though he hadn't come close to even touching her, he found that he wanted to. And therein lay the conflict.

(F/n) was beautiful, Killian never would have been able to deny that, and she was always fun to be around in her bubbly and bumbling sort of way. . .

. . . . But she was also quite large in size.

Killian had been comfortable and friendly with many women who were on the portly- he had never been prejudiced before- and yet he had never found himself attracted to or caring for such a woman. . . Never before had he cherished a human so much- save for Milah- and it was all wrong.

The pirate now stood before Granny's, with his coat draw up about his ears and an unreadable expression on his handsome face. For several weeks now, Killian had been trying to figure out what to do, but he found that he had no answers. The womanizer had finally met his match . . . though the person who had brought him to his knees was nothing at all like he had imagined.

With steady footfalls, he now entered the diner and walked over to a booth in the back, where he sat down without ceremony and laid his head on the table. He hadn't slept well the night before, and it had more than caught up with him as his eyes slid closed. For several gratifying moments, the world seemed to stop moving so quickly and the man basked in the lull. . . But then someone placed a hand on his shoulder, and he was brought back, rather against his will.

Without moving his head from the table, Killian said in a somewhat muffled voice, "I don't wish to order anything, Ruby. I'll be on my way soon enough."

"Well, I hope I didn't scare you away, Killian," the intruder replied with humor, making Killian lift his eyes up in surprise. "If you'd rather be alone, I can sit at another table."

Killian's blue eyes immediately softened as they came up to regard the woman who had been plaguing his thoughts, and shook his head. "Sorry, love. I thought you were Ruby."
