Banana? (9th Doctor x Reader)

"For a time Lord, he sure takes forever to pick up a bundle of bananas..."

You groaned and spread yourself on the couch next to the heart of the TARDIS, trying to find something to do. The Doctor, your best friend, and the man -or alien- you had a rather large crush on, had the sudden urge to have a few bananas. You didn't even ask; the Doctor was just plain weird sometimes. You got used to it, though. Doctor told you to stay in the TARDIS while he went into town to get a bundle of the yellow fruit, but that was about an hour ago. You were bored out of your mind. Your own thoughts drifted to the Doctor. You thought about his short, fuzzy black hair, his crystal blue eyes and that smile. Oh, how you loved that smile. It always managed to cheer you up if you were ever down. You sighed, your own smile forming on your lips.

Giving up on thinking of something to do, you got to your feet and stretched. "That Doctor is taking forever..." You grumbled, walking over to the doors of the familiar blue box, and stepping out. You made sure the doors were shut and locked before you looked around, putting your hand in your coat pockets. It was a bit chilly, but nothing you weren't used to. You looked around, seeing the familiar buildings of London. You sighed, watching your breath fog up and descend from your lips. A smile crept onto your face as you walked over to a nearby shop to take a look. You bought the local newspaper and read it as you walked back to the TARDIS, but as you walked in, you were met with a pair of angry, blue eyes.

"And where did you run off to this time, ________?" The Doctor asked, crossing his arms as you walked into the familiar blue box. "Well, since you decided to take your sweet time picking up Bananas, I went across the street to get a newspaper." You said, holding up the said print, before you folded it and whacked him on the arm with it, "What took you so long?" You laughed slightly as he pouted, rubbing his arm.

"I went to go get these," He said, picking up the bundle of yellow fruit he loved so much, "When I saw this." He picked up a small box. It was black, about the size of your palm, and when it was moved, it sounded like something metal was inside. Before you could even ask what it was, he handed it to you, "I thought you'd might like it." He said with a small smile.

You put your paper down on the bench next to the railing and took the box into your hands, "D-Doctor, you honestly didn't need to get anything for me..." You said, not sure if you should accept the gift. "Just open it." He said, with a smile. You sighed and gave him a smile in return, giving in and gently opening the box. Inside was a necklace, with none other than a banana charm on it. You couldn't help but laugh, "You are such a dork!" You looked at the Doctor, seeing him with a grin on his face. "Take a closer look." He spoke, his voice a bit more gentle than usual. You cocked an eyebrow, pulling the necklace out to look at it. Connected to the necklace was... a key.

"A key... what to..?" You asked, your gaze returning to the Time Lord in front of you. He looked around the room, all while he grinned at you. It suddenly clicked in your mind and your eyed widened, "n-no way..." you muttered, putting the box down and running out the doors of the TARDIS, making sure they were shut and locked.

You took a good look at the key, before placing it in the keyhole of the door. You were definitely surprised, to say the least, when you turned they key and heard the door click open. You slowly walked inside, as if it was your first time in the TARDIS; and when you looked at the Doctor...

He was sitting on the bench, eating a banana, and reading the newspaper you bought.

You laughed, "You really are a dork..." You said, walking over to him and taking a seat on the bench next to him. He turned to you and smiled that goofy grin, "I know." The Doctor went back to reading, while you stared down at the necklace.

Finally, you spoke up, "Thank you.." The Doctor turned to see you just in time before you wrapped your arms around him for a hug. After a few seconds of shock, he gently hugged back, "You're welcome, ________."

When you pulled away, the Doctor reached for the bundle of the famous yellow fruit, pulling one off and offering it to you, "Banana?"
