"I shouldn't have come..."

"(Y/N)-"

"It's TOO LATE!" Your eyes watered as your lips trembled subconsciously. Sherlock stood motionless beside the empty fireplace, facing you as you stood up from the armchair. "You're too late..." It took Sherlock less than a second to notice the ring around your finger.

"You're...engaged" He uttered softly. Sherlock's chest ached uncomfortably as he was hit with a wave of overpowering emotion, yet it barely showed. Not a muscle of his twitched.

"Yes... John's not the only one who's moved on" You chuckled bitterly. Sherlock furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. The truth was, you regretted everyday of your life after he 'died'. You regretted not spending your time with him like it was the last day on earth. You regretted not telling him how you loved the way he looked at you with his eyes. You regretted ever falling in love with Sherlock Holmes, because you knew  he would never return it. So, for everyday of your life you've lived with this unrequited love, and after his death you felt a heavier weight thrown upon your shoulders. Knowing that he would never get to feel your love, like how love is supposed to be felt. All of those thoughts disappeared, because now he was standing there. Right in front of you.

"Two years... you've been gone for two years" Tears rolled down your cheeks as you quietly hyperventilated.

A few minutes of silence passed, and you couldn't take it anymore.

"Say something!" You shouted in a quivering tone..

"Well-...um-I,hm." You've left the sociopath speechless. His eyes batted repeatedly as he turned away to hide his face, tears slowly forming. "I'm....I'm sorry" Sherlock whispered, running his hands through his dark curls, regretting what he has done."I didn't know my death would affect you that much"

Your facial expression turned harsh, but you knew he wasn't a man to say sorry. The ache in your heart increased ever so slowly.

Turning back at you, he slowly took your hand into his, and stared at your ring. It was a simple silver band, with diamonds decorated onto it.

"It's a lovely ring" You looked into his eyes, as if trying to find something. Observing his expressions, you noticed how the emotion was affecting him. It was like he didn't know what to think. He looked so lost. His eyebrows furrowed to hide his reddened eyes.

"Cubic Zirconia, 9 karats" He breathed, slowly removing the ring from your trembling finger, and lifted it up into the air to examine it in better lighting. From the distress and pain that you've brought him, he was sniffing every once in a while, even though it clearly shown he was crying. "Argentan nickel silver... he's a low income office worker, isn't he?" He whispered, and stepped an inch closer , every slow second. Sherlock continuously stared into your eyes as he threw the ring carelessly onto the coffee table, letting it bounce off and hit the floor. You silently gasped as you heard it clank off the hard surface. He stepped even closer, but you backed away each step.

"Sherlo-" Your calfs bumped into the coffee table, restraining you from avoiding Sherlock's close proximity and causing you to almost fall backwards, until the detective's arms held onto your torso. His chest was pressed against yours. "Sherlock, I'm engaged" You said quickly, thinking it would stop him from going any further.

"I know" He breathed out, his lips just centimetres away. "But I don't care" His voice came out hoarse. Something you'd never thought to hear from Sherlock Holmes. He took your face into his chilled hands, and leaned in to kiss your  deserted lips. At first you were shocked, but a feeling of need took over and you melted right into his hands. You tilted your head to deepen the slow kiss, and placed your arms around his neck. Sherlock hugged your waist, and pulled you closer against him. This was the most passionate kiss you have ever had, but then reality hit you. You pushed Sherlock away with both hands on his chest. "No-I can't, he wants to marry me" You said in a voice that sobbed and shook. Sherlock could only bore into your eyes with the look of lust and daze.

"But you don't want to marry him"

"What do you mean? I said yes-"

"Break it off."

You looked utterly confused, yet it all made sense in your head.

"Please...don't-don't marry him." He inhaled deeply, and held your hands securely into his. At this point, Sherlock was speaking from a small dusty part of his brain, a place he abandoned that held human nature. "I know I'm an awful person that cannot  detect beauty or love in the slightest bit, even if was standing 2.4 inches in front of me. You are the closest thing I have to love, to emotion...and I don't want to let you go." You were experiencing all kinds of affliction. His words stabbed you like sharpened knives. "Though I thought love was a disadvantage, you've showed me that it's an importance. (Y/N), humans cannot live without love, and I cannot live without you" Your hands trembled in his strong grip. You started smiling with tear-stained eyes.

"Okay"

"What?" Sherlock inhaled quietly.

"I choose you" You looked up to see a face of bewilderment. You thought he would look happier. "Why are you..."

"Wha-what-Um-imean-really..." He was having a small panic attack. "The human need of emotions is so complex." You giggled at his confusion, which made him smile. He quickly pecked your lips, making your heart beat faster.

"Is the chemistry of love starting to confuse you?" You asked jokingly.

"I love you" Sherlock whispered. Your face dropped in realization.

"You...love me?" You asked baffled. Sherlock's face fell in dismay.

"Is that not what people say?" His eyes showed a fake turmoil.

"No-I mean yes. Yes, they say that" You looked into his light eyes and replied, "I love you too"
