(Songs: Life in Reverse by Time Will Tell/You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift)

You ran out of the restaurant, the tears were slowly streaming down your face. Mascara staining your cheeks. Your hands were shaking, head pounding. How could he do that, right in front of everyone.

Suddenly you saw Calum, he was leaning against his car with a lit cigarette between his teeth. His eyes raised to look right at you as you stopped in your tracks. His eyebrows furrowed as he let the bud fall to the ground and he step on it.

"What are you still doing here?" You asked him, your voice shaking as you held back the sobs that were still threatening to escape your parted lips. "I thought you had left."

"I knew the dick would do something..." He said easily, shrugging his jacket off and wrapping it around your shoulders. His hands softly resting over your arms. You could feel your eyes fill up with tears again, your lip trembling before he wrapped his arms around you. He softly pressed a soft kiss to the top of your head.

"Come on, we don't have to talk about. Let's just get out of here, your engagement party sucked anyways." He spoke the words so softly, his voice controlled. You could hear the underlining annoyance under his tone but you knew he was probably joking, trying to lighten up the mood for you. That's what he always did anyways; that's why he was your best friend.

His hand wrapped warmly around yours, leading you into the passenger seat. Soon enough, you were both moving. Trees just zooming past you on the other side of the window. You could faintly see your reflection sometimes. You looked like a mess, tears silently still falling from your eyes. How could he have humiliated you like that in front of your friends and family.

"Can you stop? You need to stop!" Calum said, his tone angry. You could hear he was holding himself back; his hands gripping the steering wheel so hard his knuckles were white, his jaw set.

"Stop what?" You asked, confusion clear on your voice as you wiped away a few tears from your cheeks. The car suddenly pulled over onto the side of the road, quickly put into parking.

"Dammit, you really don't see it don't you?" He said, and when you didn't answer he just let out a long sigh before he continued.

"For years, I've been standing on the sidelines. Hoping that you would see it someday. But I can't make you see it... You belong with me you know, you can pretend you belong someplace else with anyone else but the truth is it isn't working. You might have that ring on your finger but you know it doesn't feel right." As soon as the last words left his mouth, you were about to protest but he wasn't done. He leaned his body towards yours, his fingers brushing your face before he kissed you. His lips weren't tender at first, they were hard and angry...desperate. But they soon softened, melting into you before he pulled back.

"I can't make you love me...but you deserve better." He whispered, pulling away all together and getting out of the car. Fresh tears were starting to form because you knew he was right. He had been there for years through thick and thin watching as it didn't work with anyone else... And the only thing that had ever felt right was that he was always there.

Without thinking, you threw the car door open and climbed out of the car. Your feet were barefoot but you didn't care as you made your way towards Calum. His eyes were closed as he rested his hands over the side of the car, his head ducked down.

"Dammit..." You heard him murmur under his breath, something you were sure you weren't meant to hear.

Your trembling hand raised to rest over his shoulder, a desperate attempt to make him look at you. Instead you felt him tense, his hands tightening into fists as he let out a shaky breath.

"Get back in the car..." He mumbled but you didn't move from where you stood, your hand tightening against his shoulder.

"If you don't I'd be tempted to kiss you again..." He added, his words making your heart speed up inside of your chest. You could feel your cheeks growing warm as color began to taint them. The memory of his lips on yours before made your free hand come up to your lips to gently touch them. "I mean it." He said, his eyes dark as they looked up at you and you knew he did. He was saying the truth when he said he was tempted just by the sight of you, the desire was there.

"I-I wouldn't stop you..." You breathed out. You had no clue where that came from but your words were also the truth and you saw hope flash through his eyes.

"There is no going back you know..." He whispered, his body straightening as he took a single step towards you. You swallowed hard as you nodded and spoke again. "I know..." You whispered to. The air felt so thick between the two of you, you felt like you couldn't breathe.

His hand took a hold of your left one, slowly taking the ring off of your finger before he placed it on top of the hood of the car. The last thing you remembered before his lips came crashing onto yours once again was the way his eyes looked as he tilted your chin up to look at you.
