It was the first time since your daughter was born that you would take on a job again. Calum had insisted for weeks for you to take the offer and you had no way to tell him otherwise because the timing was truly right. She had gone through all of her potty training, she would sleep on her own bed and most important of all for the first time in a long time Calum would be home. Him and they boys were on their first real break which meant there was no need for a baby sitter, just a lot of daddy-daughter bonding.

So you did just that, you accepted the offer and all through your first day of work you couldn't stop thinking about how Calum was doing. You kept checking in via text, so often that Calum began avoiding you after a lot of teasing. So you couldn't be more excited when it was time to go home.

You parked your car in the garage and made your way inside, following the sounds that came from the kitchen. You could hear soft distant giggles and conversations. You tiptoed your way there and stood by the door frame and admired the sight.

There stood Calum and your daughter, making mac 'n cheese (her favorite meal any day). She was handing him ingredients while he mixed them up, giving her some to taste every step of the way. She would applaud him when they got things right and he put his hand up for a high five. You couldn't hold back the small laugh that escaped your lips.

"Well look at that, mommy's home." Calum said with a huge grin as you walked towards them.

"Don't let me stop you, I can't wait for dinner it smells delicious." You said.

"Daddy and I made mac 'n cheese with chicken!" She said excitedly as she wrapped her arms around you, Calum leaning forward to kiss your temple.

"The fanciest type of foods." Calum said, wiggling his eyebrows.

"Can't wait to hear all about your day then." You murmured before you kissed him and for the first time all day you knew everything would be okay.
