The truth about relationships is that sometimes they don't work out and it doesn't matter if you've been with the person for a few months or maybe even years, sometimes things aren't meant to be.
That was the sad truth about you and Michael, after 3 years of constantly trying to make things work...It just didn't. And it wasn't fair for your 2 year old daughter to have to deal with the constant fighting. Now 2 years later after the huge breakup, the 3 of you were still close. And your daughter adored her father to bits. He might not have been the best boyfriend, but he was the best father you could of asked for your daughter.
That morning you had driven to the airport to catch your flight, the first time in the two years that the two of you would be traveling to the states to meet up with Michael as a family. It was her 4th birthday and he had planned an amazing Disney adventure for his little princess. One you just couldn't miss yourself. So after a lot of disagreements and fears, the day had come.
"Daddy!" Your daughter exclaimed. She saw him before you did at the airport, letting go of your hand as she sped through people to jump into his arms. He hadn't even hesitated as he wrapped his arms around her and spun her around in his arms. Her giggles echoing as you reached the two of them.
Your breath had caught at the sight of your little family. Even if Michael was just a friend to you, he was a part of your family and he would always be.
You watched as he straightened up with your daughter still in his arms, her tiny arms still tightly wrapped around his neck. You noticed how they both wore a leather jacket. You noticed how she had your hair but she had his smile and eyes.
"Hey," He said softly, catching your attention. You smiled back at him and tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.
"Hi back." You whispered, your smile not wavering and neither did his.
"You look as beautiful as ever." he added, making your cheeks turn a bright red as you murmured a thank you. Your heart was beating like a hummingbird inside your chest. "I'm so glad you came." he added as the three of you made your way towards the baggage claim, before your little vacation started.
