A rarity.

Risa's summary: do you believe in soulmates?
Would you trust a concept that binds you to another from birth?
Amelia has never believed in the theory of the fated ones, but when an intricate design appears on her wrist when she turns eighteen, change seeps in.
Maybe it's more than just a social construct.
But really, would you trust a concept that binds you to two?

Honestly, I had to stop myself from going further since I have a pretty long list of books yet to be reviewed.
I loved this one!

I was a bit thrown off balance Initially; I really don't think it's okay to mix first-person and third-person viewpoints in the same book. True, this writing style could work great for a certain target audience since every author is given leeway to choose what experience the readers get to enjoy. However, I found it really shaky. It felt like I was up in one chapter and then down in the next. If a change in perspective is necessary for plot/character development - in the case of a character's death, for example - then I would have had no problem with the mix.

I love how this author gave a fresh interpretation of a pretty familiar trope. The mystery sprinkled in certainly gave me much to look forward to, reasons to keep reading! Why does Amelia have two fated ones? How rare are drifters and how exactly do they come to be? What happens to Owen? What happens to both Josh and Amelia? Will the other Josh come back to this world and will this one stay?

Grammatical errors were sparse and can very easily be fixed with good editing.

Something didn't add up though: why couldn't Owen feel it when Amelia lied? If all adds up right, he was supposed to.

I happen to be one of those who judge books by their covers, if I had seen this cover without looking through the blurb, I wouldn't have read this book. The blurb was intriguing enough, I feel it could be made shorter though.

Tethered Destinies is a fresh take on love, a captivating read sure to keep you in place with its mystery, intriguing characters, and rocky love triangle. I recommend this to anyone who'd love a fine mix of reality, love, and the unknown.
