Creativity is a gift.
Risa's summary: Olivia Lon is a brilliant inventor who selflessly sets off on a mission to grant an individual the gift of flight. However, the road to success and growth is riddled by obstacles.
I must laud this author for their sheer originality and mastery over words. One look at first the chapter would clearly tell: whoever is behind the pen is quite seasoned.
Unfortunately, I struggled to write this review.
Not because there was just one chapter at the time, but because I had a very hard time understanding what I was reading.
Emphasis on 'very hard'.The book started and I got instantly confused, - which was not a good kind of confusion - what exactly was going on, and who were those people... or who was that person and thing?
Granted, description was good. However, I was thoroughly washed clean by boredom. I quite literally had to drag myself through the chapter and even that seemed to take forever.
I drowned in information I didn't understand, and didn't care about.A few kind suggestions: cook up a strong opening, one that incites curiosity. Make the reader want to know more, don't force them to by dumping information. Trust me on this one, you do not want a disappointing opening.
Build strong inner logic and create realistic characters readers can care about/relate to. If Olivia's character had been more fleshed out, I'd be rooting for her, I'd stick around until her story comes to a good end.
I suggest the book's cover and summary should also be worked on.
I believe this story has strong potential, and I would love to read this book after it's been worked on. I hope I'd love it as much as I imagine I would.
