War is an evil thing.

Risa's summary: Fiona's the only survivor of her kind.
And being an Elevena among humans is anything but rosy.
Obstacles are bound to sprout, and Fiona must choose between hiding and fighting her diverse realities.

Survival is a strong theme.
In my opinion, any writer who picks this theme is impressively daring. And they certainly have what it takes to build it right, even if they are yet to hone what it takes. For this reason, I really like this writer.

Theme aside, I pretty much toiled to write this review, in all honesty. I must apologize for the number of times I rolled my eyes while reading this book, there were just several parts that came off as unrealistic to me. Yes, I found them very reachy. An example should be the scene where Louis -- the teen superstar -- makes his grand entrance to school with his five expensive cars. Girls chase him like flies -- except the MC, of course -- daydreaming, and echoing in unison when he stood up to leave: "Louis, please come back." Reachy parts like this one are scattered throughout, and yes, tales like this are most people's cup of tea. It wasn't mine though, and that's fine.

There's work to be done on grammar. There were several missing punctuations -- especially periods -- misspellings, confusion with tenses, etcetera. Description was also sparse so there's ample room for improvement. Mild suggestion: cut down on the telling, do more showing.

The book's cover was anything but attractive to me, and I found the summary far from interesting.
I suggest dialogue should also be worked on along with these.

Mystical Mutant is a nice read I'd love to try again after it's been properly edited. I'd love to know how far this remarkably daring author carried the story, and how Fiona learnt to survive among us strange beings.
