Running is the only way out.
Risa's summary: it was 40 years of endurance. Years of being forced to listen to the pleas and mewls of her kinfolk. It was 40 years worth throwing away.
Lilliana knew she had to escape. She had to run. But she's a rarity, a wonder to be imprisoned and tested, so they must find her. The cost of running is high.
Does 4N4 have what it takes to pay?In three words: engaging, delightful, and refreshing.
I really enjoyed my time with this impressive work of art.The developing relationship between Zane and Lily is simply heartwarming. At certain times I wished I had more time to explore the depths of what was to form between them.
However, I found the story's pace very slow. I understand how necessary time is to show how certain relationships between certain characters build up, but in this case, I felt the scenes simply dragged out. This could have been because nothing exciting happened during this time. From chapter one to five, I was stuck within 24 hours. No action, no inciting incident, no thrill.
I loved the exceptional attributes the characters embodied. I was struck and particularly impressed by how emotions were conveyed through Lily's horns. True, in some parts I thought it was repetitious -- the frequent glow of orange and how the author had to add each time that Lily was confused -- but the imaginativeness was indeed spellbinding.
There were grammatical errors sprinkled in here and there, nothing a good edit wouldn't easily fix. I would have appreciated more worldbuilding, more captivating descriptions.
I didn't find the book's cover attractive. Fair, yes, but nothing more. I found the book's blurb quite boring and confusing.
Lilliana Ravenborn is a crisp, ingenious piece you wouldn't want to miss out on. I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone looking to try something new, something warm, and refreshing.
